hi all,

i've something to say also lolx. well, even if its just a user manual or box, if its agreed in the first place that it is to be part of the package, the seller has to honour it even though it might seem to be worthless coz in the first place, the buyer wanna buy it... coz of the FULL package.

glad that he'll be getting all his stuff soon or has he alr gotten? haha

i have an incident to share also. some time back, one CSer also cheated me in a way. he actually offered me to take the whole package with a battery grip and reassured me that if i really dont like the grip after trying out, he'll collect it back at nite and refund me 100 bucks. of coz that never happen and he come out with lots of excuses etc which i also feel sick of typing out. i nv managed to get the refund of the grip anyway and the sms dialogue was also not-that-nice. anyway i've told quite some pp about this guy. it was a lesson learnt, not everyone will honour their promise thats y now i dont even care about what the so called personal warrenty and crap. tsk tsk.

of coz there r still a lot of honest dealers out there. cheers : )


All I can say is people need to be careful when money is involved. It is not news, and holds true throughout the ages. It is best to be clear and fair from the beginning to avoid disappointment. If you want to trust someone, you need to be prepared to accept the worst if something happens that violate that trust. Just learn to be smarter in the future and move on.

i will be meeting Justin later for a 1-to-1 exchange later as i found out that the USB port was not functioning indeed as i tried with another friend's 5dmk2 cables.

also, i called canon to check and the warranty was invalid (he told me it still had 4 months warranty when we first met)

all i have to say is i learnt a big lesson from this experience, will definitely be more cautious when dealing next time!! P.S. many many thanks guys for all the advices shared. if i never checked the USB port or call canon i would have still thought the camera was functioning perfectly fine.

I would ask for the money back instead. Seeing how this individual's honesty track record is not the best. Get the camera elsewhere.

pls keep us posted. judging from ur description from the past pages, i have serious doubt this fellow will return you the money. i have the least respect for such bugger.
 

wah bro, i'm damm hot after reading ur thread. keep us updated if u dun get ur 1-1 refund k? u cant do anything physical to him but there are many things which u can do to irritate him into submission. u have his hp (which u can call at various timings using anonymous numbers, pbase site with pics of a lady fren which u can use, workplace address, FB profile.... the possibilities r endless man. just a matter of how creative u r, how pissed u r n how far u wana go.

sorry if i sound like an unscrupulous person but i'm a firm believer of an eye for an eye, tit for tat, u do 1st day i do 15th :angry:
 

Did you get your money back yet?

The response was rather dramatic. Due to unforseen personal family issues - he said the money was used up by his mum(that actually is not my problem and i dont wanna know). Now, he says he can only afford to settle the money with me within 2-3 days as he claims that is when he will get his salary.

So what I did was ask him for a deposit of 500 (which was the money he claimed he had left), i sent him a message to act as black & white for 2 conditions 1) that he will refund me the remaining money that he owes me by thursday or 2) that i will service the camera for whatever problems and continue using it denying the right for the full refund in (1).

I will consider if i want to service his faulty camera and keep it (along with the remaining cash) or I might just return it to him for a full refund on Thursday. Will see how much canon CSC quote me first.

Anyone knows the cost to repair a USB port + tethering?
 

I think you are going to have quite a fair bit of problem getting:

  • a full refund
  • him to pay for the servicing of the USB port
because chances are there will be newer and more fantastic stories coming up every day.
We have certainly seen quite a number of individuals in this world who, for their various personal reasons, would not honour their side of the deal.
 

Actually, I think im being quite soft here lah. But I just listen to what he say loh, for the benefit of the doubt! (not adult) **corrected by daredevil** (even though sometimes i feel like laughing to myself, lol)

My friends knows his girlfriend. It's a small world and trust me Singapore IS VERY small. I'm sure i can find his address easily with a few phone calls if I want to, unless he wants to migrate far away. So, its really up to him lah if he tries to play punk with me, I just hope he makes the right decision.

Likewise, I could also lodge a police report on the basis of my saved SMSes which I also forwarded to my friend as referee and ask the moderators on this forum for the thread of which he posted his ad claiming his camera to be on 4 months warranty + in condition 9/10 (which was a complete lie after i checked). Tracking back our exchanged telephone conversations for incidents such as this would be simple so long as a police report has been made.

The odds for him to try and run without being further damaged is seriously low lah. over this kind of money, im sure he wouldnt want to bring his family name down, or affect his personal life and all his personal relationships - be it his girlfriend or his workplace.. etc.

I'm just seriously puzzled that there are actually such personalities hiding around in this world...scares me to think seriously. Anyway, he(Justin) might be reading this right now at this very moment but i'll just be open lah.. i got nothing personal against him, this is strictly business. I'll do what I want and say what I deserve to say, with a clear conscience. Feel free to speak otherwise, if you object.

In first place, he shouldn't have tried his luck to sell me nor anyone else a faulty camera- you know in life sometimes you can be shrewd, you can be smart, you can be cunning.. BUT without integrity -the rest will kill you-

Anyway, seriously appreciate your responses guys, for all the advices and comments,whatsoever made. Cheers to all those of you out there who choose to stand up against cheaters and never back down till justice's been made :thumbsup::thumbsup:

whats the serial number of the body? we can look out incase he refunds you and tries to sell it under another username/mobile number/disguise (now that we know how he looks like). Can always get a friend to be the 'owner' anyway.

Gosh, if he is reading this...I would be damn worried...
 

I'm sure we all learnt from this lesson. Do not believe anything at verbal or face value.

To be fair, perhaps Justin is not a cheat. But being the seller, his ways of not responding/being uncontactable is irresponsible. No matter how busy you are, it doesn't change the fact that a promise is a promise. And the seller has to tie up all loose ends within the agreed time.

maybe you should post out the serial number of the faulty camera you have.. so other people out there will be able to take note and not buy that camera from him after you get back your refund =)
 

Sadly, there will always be such characters out there... and much worse ones as well. For example, characters in shops who are out to deceive and chop carrot.

However, those of us who stand up for truth, justice, righteousness, and integrity, must not let such characters defile us into their level of dealings.

After reading many threads of horror stories, I am happy that this one is going somewhere towards a resolution... and I hope it does get resolved soon :)
