TS, i think you should settle with the guy first. Need not be judgemental and damage his reputation.
After you have known what's going on, I think you should also clear up the thread about the things you spilled over.
Treat it as a lesson learnt. Don't let your emotions ruin you. :)

Totally understand what you are going through.. Well a deal's a deal, I thought seller should be more responsible to bring everything as per promised out during the deal or settle the remaining promptly.

It leaves the buyer hanging when calls are not answered and no form of replies. After all you are buying from a stranger, how much trust can one have.

Well, sometimes we learnt this the hard way.. Hope TS settles everything.

The one thing I do not understand is, what good would boxes and manuals do for the seller? If I sell an item, and the buyer do not want the manuals and boxes, I would have thrown it all away. If I do not have the product anymore, these things would be useless to me.

I would hesitate to call the seller a cheat. You did get your 5Dm2 right? and the camera is as advertised right? That is the most important part. The seller could have an emergency, or lost his phone and many other possible reasons. Give him a couple more days. And do not be nasty. If you get too nasty, he might react negatively, and in the end, you can kiss your stuff goodbye.

In the meantime, download a digital copy of the manual.

well the box and manual can cost a lot of difference.
with the box and manual u could get more money, cos it got resales value.
well he might have over reacted
but after all the seller promise to sell with the box and manual, so its the seller duty to bring all the items as promise.

I agree that the box and manual has some value to the buyer. But what I was saying was that it holds a lot less value to the seller, who do not have the camera anymore.

Just met up with Justin at his work location. For the benefit of adult (as he told me), I take it that he was too busy at work and was so tired that he was unable to reply my repeated calls and messages last week.

I looked him in the eye, shook his hands with due respect and on my part apologised for my harsh comments that i sent him on facebook. We agreed that we will meet tomorrow and he will pass me the stuff that he was supposed to pass to me last week.

I will close this thread soon (when i get my stuff) as i don't intend to cause a stir nor damage anyone's reputation, all i want is justice and a fair trade with both parties in a transaction honoring their word.

Thanks.

He was supposed to pass me a Domke bag as well (which he verbally told me when we settled for the deal) - but for the benefit of adult i just take it that was too busy and was unable to respond to my calls and messages.

I apologize if i seem like a fussy prick but I believe that one should hold up to his principles and promises...

I'm sure we all learnt from this lesson. Do not believe anything at verbal or face value.

To be fair, perhaps Justin is not a cheat. But being the seller, his ways of not responding/being uncontactable is irresponsible. No matter how busy you are, it doesn't change the fact that a promise is a promise. And the seller has to tie up all loose ends within the agreed time.

"some additional items like camera bag, box/manuals "
did you read about the camera bag too?

"For the benefit of adult" is so funny...

Just a word of caution, remember to check that the serial no. of the box matches the body.
I had an experience once whereby the warr card given to me didn't belong to the lens. only realised it when i got home.
I was lucky and got a new lens from John 3:16 after 1 month of following up.

You'll never know how or by what means the camera was purchased or obtained.
The last thing you want is to show up at CSC when a fault in the camera, and be told that it's listed as stolen.

Just wondering why you talk abut the usb thingy? do you know something about this cam?

The USB port is one of those things that's easily overlooked when buying... Most transfer via card reader, and seldom with the USB port on camera, most won't tether... and importantly, it's not cheap trying to replace it

Very true. This is the importance of box and papers.
5Dm2 not exactly a cheap item.

If you are busy, some sort of explanation would be required to protect yourself from any miscommunication errors. I'm sure theres always a minute in a day to send out an sms.

fully agree. does anyone out there really believe that a person can be that busy to reply? remember it is the seller fault in the 1st place.

Fully agree. Could be a case of acting blur. Anyway, i think the box and manual is worth something. I vaguely remember viewing an ad in BnS for box & original manual before.

hi all,

i've something to say also lolx. well, even if its just a user manual or box, if its agreed in the first place that it is to be part of the package, the seller has to honour it even though it might seem to be worthless coz in the first place, the buyer wanna buy it... coz of the FULL package.

glad that he'll be getting all his stuff soon or has he alr gotten? haha

i have an incident to share also. some time back, one CSer also cheated me in a way. he actually offered me to take the whole package with a battery grip and reassured me that if i really dont like the grip after trying out, he'll collect it back at nite and refund me 100 bucks. of coz that never happen and he come out with lots of excuses etc which i also feel sick of typing out. i nv managed to get the refund of the grip anyway and the sms dialogue was also not-that-nice. anyway i've told quite some pp about this guy. it was a lesson learnt, not everyone will honour their promise thats y now i dont even care about what the so called personal warrenty and crap. tsk tsk.

of coz there r still a lot of honest dealers out there. cheers : )

"some additional items like camera bag, box/manuals "

Well, didn't know what kind of bag as TS did not mention until just now. Could have been one of those freebie bags that is not worth much.

Ok. a Domke vs a freebie no brand bag, a lot of difference.

If I were you, I would have held back at least $200 until all items are delivered.

hais..
vandalize the name of Justin..

This is not vandalism. TS stated an incident. I PMed Justin to come in here to present his side of the story if it was untrue. So far, he did not bother to. So, we can assume TS's complaint is valid and true. If that is the case, the only person vandalizing Justin's name, is himself.
