i know, but that's the closest thing :bsmilie:

more ppl buy canon becos their office photocopy machine is canon

That goes back to what I was saying about "sheep"...they own Brand "X"'s TV, they own Brand "X"'s VCR, DVD, stereo, clock radio, computer monitor, laptop, etc., all made by Brand "X"...so they go out and by Brand "X"'s camera without doing any research or thinking.

Another type of sheep is the one who buys the brand because a professional uses it...of course the professional is spending thousands on a body and each lens, while the sheep just spends a few hundred on the cheapest body and kit lenses.

This may because the sheeps just want to take good photo. Any big brand comes to their mind, they just buy. Most important these sheeps want to shoot instead of wasting precious time comparing to specs. And the big brand made it as they market it well. These sheep has no time to appreciate O's "better" and "special" design. End of the day, there's nothing wrong people choose the "x" brand. I just felt those who choose other less popular brands are too mindful and want to prove they have "taste".
Let's just shoot and see the photo instead instead of worry peope seeing what brand we are holding.

Oh, so you are another one that fire 11 shot to get 1 hit.

If you have used camera for more than 38 years like me, you will know the quality when you see it. The CMOS or the CCD that captures the details, the lower the crop factor the better. Best being Full Frame. The APS-C is already some crop, but Olympus crop factor is 2:1, thereby, in theory, it uses 1 pixel for 4 bits of info, meaning, you get 1/8 of your picture details compared visavis same set up and lens, therefore, the Canon can capture higher detail in lower light at higher ISO setting than Olympus.

Simple logic

By your logic, best will be Large Format, not Full Frame. Not sure what you mean by 1 pixel for 4bits of info though.

Anyway, each format has its own pros and cons, as you well know.

38 yrs of film cameras use doesn't equate to digital knowledge
1 pixel doesn't equate 4 bits
Dun know much better dun open mouth

Simple logic

This thread should have been left for dead and buried along time ago, or even better DELETED! There is no simple logic to camera formats. There is no best of all worlds as EVERY camera format is a compromise between image quality and other factors. Anyone who uses "simple logic" to determine what camera format to use is NOT a photographer, and doesn't know much about photography.

I've used camera formats up to 24"x36" sheet film (that's 2 feet by 3 feet or 60cm by 90cm in case you think I made a typo)...my first camera was a 6x6, and I used 35mm/135 format film for 20 years. I've NEVER come across a camera format that's better than others. Each one is good at its specific type of photography. For me today that's FourThirds format. Tomorrow I may using larger than 35mm/135 format, maybe I'll be using 645, or 8x10.

Don't try to tell me (or the others here) that 35mm/135 format is the best format or be all and end all of photography, because that's simply not the case, and anyone who thinks that has been blinded by people who don't know what they're talking about, and probably have never used larger camera formats.

Just for the record while I do have almost 40 years of photography experience, I've been editing images digitally for over 20 years (that was before Photoshop existed), and shooting with digital cameras since the early 90's (back when it was whopping 0.307 megapixel or if you like, 300 kilopixels).

Have you been reading enough?

4/3 lens to 4/3 body has no crop factor. It's multiplier factor.

You can start off by reading official information on Four Thirds.

38 years of using camera and this is your level of understanding..? :dunno:

The same reason of why more people are driving Toyotas in Singapore compared to Mazdas....

More people use does not mean it is better.

Its easier to spell Canon than Olympluasd....

Canon is two syllabus, Olympus has three...

Everyone uses Canon, just buy what everyone is using because I am a cow...
(except when the Canon you are buying is the 1Ds).

Because I am pro, and Canon gives me all the gear I need, you sucker consumers are paying for my free gear...

Because I am a photojournalist, and my papers are giving me these Canon stuff. I am a pro and I can shoot with ANYTHING. Canon, Nikon, Olympus, whatever... does not matter. I need a camera with lenses of the right focal length...

.... last but not least, (dunno to laugh or cry), but to men, like cars, cameras are their pxxxs extension. The longer the lens they have, the shorter their pxxxs... (heard this joke at a local camera store).

haiz this thread will never die is it????

Simple Answer. Canon is good because their cameras can take photos while Olympus cameras dont. Olympus cameras are fake. Whoever that try to sell you an Olympus camera is a conman. They make telephones better than they do cameras.

Nothing new comes out of threads like this man..
