the force is strong with this 1... must be your darkside awakening...

phew. lucky most of the pictures were recovered. some had half chopped off. guess i would be buying a lexar card soon. anyway, me planning to buy camera bag, i think the lowepro D400 ST should do the job nicely(but its a bit big though). any comments on my selection? and what's the cheapest place you think i can buy this bag? thanks!:D

i think its your camera problem than a kingston problem... u tried changing the fat32 setting? or change it to fat16 since u have not exceeded 2gig...

maybe your camera need to stay at the service centre longer... it misses its home...

Must we change the camera or the card to FAT32? I thought the card is formatted to FAT32 by default when we buy the card? Otherwise how use in the camera? I never did anything to my camera except to format the cards in my 7D... all works leh...1, 2 or 4 GB, except that the Kingston card crashed once... and that seemed like a bad egg...:dunno:

default should be FAT16 for those 2gig & below. but dun quote me lor...

Hmm... how do you check what format u are in on the 7D? I just bought a Transcend 4GB and formatted it and shot some tests... ok leh... of course when I first bought my camera, I might have already switched to FAT32 and then thrown away the key...;)

heh heh...today took my whole system to test in school. was taking two events. student counsiler investiture and some physics lecture by a nodel prize winner. was covering with my pres(that anti-KM guy), and shibin(who coped my 70-200 2.8 for the whole investiture:what: ) . some overall comments:

-my whole system isn't really that loud, did not used the canon backup(which i took from teacher incase the grinding sound is too loud). but when they are praying, AF with my 18-50 is a nono:nono: .

-sigma 18-50:seems to have some problems when focusing wide. at 18mm, when the 7D fixed on the focus, i zoomed it to 50 and noticed that it is slightly(actually quite alot) out of focus. i have to focus at 50mm then zoom back down to get a extremely clear image. checked with some users, this lens is parfocal.

-seriously need a camera bag. was holding 3 bags today, kept using up lots of space in bus. 1 hand 70-200, the other with 7D+18-50, and flash cannot stuff in them, have to put in sch bag. . my hands still hurts.

-DUN BUY KINGSTON ELITE PRO 1024MB CF CARD. was shooting away happily. investiture ended. browsed through my photos...........ONLY GOT 21 PHOTOS?! my teacher quickly brought it to his com, he can only see 21 photos, plus alot of rubbish folders:cry: . but luckily, the "no of photos left" on the lcd screen shows a small number, like there are still photos in there. now trying to see if i can use any recovery software to use. hopefully can recover.

eh paiseh!!
sorry!! was too addicted to using it!!!

the Sigma 70-200F2.8 is such a darling to use... i love it's bokeh too... it does hunts sometimes.. but definately not as much as my sigma 70-300 F4.5-5.6.. in fact... quite rarely.. bokeh is really creamy and beautiful... F2.8 was really useful when i shot in the hall as it wasn't very bright.. was shooting arnd ISO1600 most of the time... but it's really quite heavy especially on my 5D.. the weight balance was quite bad and my hand got rather tired.. here's a photo to show for the 70-200F2.8

Take picture of white surface with lens fully stopped down (something with f32 is ideal)... check image, can you see the dust?

If cannot, then leave it, no harm...

If can, look at your manual on how to lock up the mirror for sensor cleaning (make sure your battery is strong first). Once mirror is up, hold body (without lens attached) with mount hole facing the gound. Direct your blower at the sensor and gently blow, check frequently. Stop and reset camera once dust disappears. (hopefully can see the offending dust with your naked eyes)

If still cannot, seek technician help unless you are confident of more advanced cleaning...

Most importantly, don't be too stressed, this will happen more often than you think. If you get upset eveytime this happens, you're gonna have sleepless nights man...

hi. tried blowing it with a blower, looks cleaner now.
some updates: my digi cabi has arrived!!!!!!! now busying trying to get a 45% RH.

my father is going hong kong, and i asked him to help me serch for a KM50mm 1.4. At what critical price should i ask my father to buy?

lastly, still having internal conflicts over both bags. which one to get? lowepro Steath REporter D400AW, or Crumpler 7 million dollar home? would say that the crumpler looks cooler, but does it fits a 7D with 70-200 2.8 attached?

thanks. suddenly realised how all of you have been so helpful in assisting my KM system's purchase. thanks to all!!!!

Minoltian, probably the friendliest in town

Bring all the lens that you think you want to carry in an outing and bring it to the shop and try out. Put all your lens in the bag, carry it. Try taking out the camera from the bag and put it in while still carrying it. Similarly try changing lens while still carrying the bag.

Basically see how you like using it and carrying it. Don't forget space for flash, blower, TC/Tube, Memory card, remote cable and filters.

I'm still using the free minolta bag that comes with the camera, good enough for me. ;)

woah... cannot stand the kingston elite pro liao. so slow and corruptable. planning to join the MO for the transcend 120X 4 or 8GB.

btw, anyone also using the sigma18-50 2.8 EX DC? lately, i am complaining that when it locks focus at wide, i always see oof when i zoom to tele to check focus. however, i was checking some wide pics i took yesterday, but all seems to be in focus. wonder if this lens is parfocal?

and me decided to go with crumpler. shibin say it looks cooler.:bsmilie:

Transcend seems good... I have one piece which I have stressed test but have not brought out for a real world shoot yet...

As for the Crumpler... I suggest that u put off your purchase until u get a vertical grip... I face a serious problem of getting a large enough shoulder bag that will allow me to put in a 7D + VC-7D attached with lens with the setup on its side either vertically or horizontally or even with the lens facing down... all the bags I tried were either too narrow (meaning they were designed not to accomodate a vertical grip) or didn't have enough space for other lenses

I prefer to carry 3 lenses with one attached and 1 flash. My usual arsenal is a 17-35mm attached with a 24-135mm and 100-400mm... plus the 5600 and lots of AA Ni-MH and 4 batteries for the camera... and I like my lens attached to the camera to shoot on the go and without having to hang the camera around the neck especially overseas... the 7D is a very expensive looking camera and draws a lot of unwanted attention.... and I like one empty space for my mounted lens in the bad with the other lenses to be kept vertical with all caps off so that I can easily switch lenses... u know slot the mounted lens into the empty space, press lens mount button, twist and dismount, the mount the new lens.... so the usual Stealth Reporter bags are just too small...

I physically tried Stealth Reporter 400 and found that it cannot hold a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 attached to a 7D with grip plus a flash and one other lens... just too cramped with lots of pieces squashed against one another... tried to use the Slip-Lock lens puches but cannot find the right size for my lenses... haiz...

I have Lowe Pro Compact AW and that just about lets me put in 70-200 (with hood detached), KM 17-35mm, Tamron 24-135mm, Minolta 100-400mm APO, Minolta 50mm f/1.7, 1 set of Teleplus Triplus extension tubes, 5600HS flash, filters and blower and memory cards... but that's a huge bag...

And there really isn't anything in between... at a reasonable price... I'm still looking... if u find one please let me know... I have tried Tamrac (worse), Crumpler, Lowe Pro, and a few other brands I have forgotten... nothing perfect for me at the moment... so just use a simple Lowe Pro Nova 3 and squeeze lor...

So that sums my hunt some months back for an ideal bag... I am toying with the idea of a backpack but that is really not good for fast shooting, especially when travelling... long post huh? Thanks for reading...

hmmm....just opened up a rocket blower i bought from PPCP few days ago. felt slightly cheated. i thought they were selling a giottos rocket blower, but it wasn't. there isn't any giottos logos marked on it, just a plain looking body. anyone own the real one? this imitation only as one outlet, it doesn't takes air from behind then blow it out front: it just sucks and blows from one outlet. so sad....when blowing something dusty, it will suck in the dust too.

hello. i noticed that my sigma 18-50 has this problem. when focus at wide, then zoom into tele, i noticed that it looks blur. i sent sigma an email and they gave me this:

Yes this is a parfocal lens.* You should focus at 50mm first than adjust the focal length from this point back.* What you are experiencing is due to the DOF.* When you are at 18 mm the focus will not be as accurate as when you are a 50mm.* So when you lock focus the focus point is not a accurate as it looks due to the DOF. When you zoom is the DOF becomes more apparent and the focus is not as accurate.

can someone try it with some other 17-XX lens and see if it is blur when you zoom in? thanks!

Actually I tend to frame first then focus... cos the focal point will change with the perspective as the focal length changes.

My personal favorite, Lowepro Pro Mag 2...

Reasonably sized bag which fits body with attached 2.8 lens, but good luck finding one, Cathay stopped bringing it in.

Times appeared in CS B&S since CS started, once...

I had to order it from Canada.
