My goodness the GPS unit is huge and it'll definitely hinders the end user with the straight connector.

The price of the setup inclusive of the cable will have to be about $100 to be acceptable given the inconvenient size since the Geomet'r GNC-35 GPS is only about $170.But if the price is reasonable, or below expected price, will you still buy it?
(you're using the D90 too right?)
For those in a hurry to geotag with Dx/Dxxx series, grab the 10 pin to RS232 GPS cable from Nikon and buy yourself a real GPS receiver instead of 3rd party flimsy addons. Ductape the cables and the GPS receiver to your strap and you're good to go. Heres a pic of my geotagging war-gear. Shown in the pic is a Garmin 76 12 Channel Marine GPS receiver with WAAS, it outputs standard NMEA0183, its waterproof, it floats and its abuse-proof!

The unit is slated to be available at the end of the month, November, for a manufacturer's recommended retail price (MSRP) of $275 Canadian, S$340.

Yes, I'm using the D90.
I'll wait for the third party option.
According to Nikon's website, the cable is not included in the package. It will still cost money. Also GP-1 doesn't support compass. Solmeta will produce a N90 for D90 which supports compass. The price will be around $200 and will be available within a month.
The price of GP-1 is finally revealed to be around 210 USD and Adorama has it in stock.
Review of the GP-1 can be read here.
Q: Can GN-1 be used with D90?
A: With suitable cable/adapter - YES. Because D90 uses a new 10-pin Nikon proprietary accessory port, we'll have to develop such connector, which takes time and we are working on it. We do not expect this to be available before end of January.
Solmeta will have one for N90 within the week and the price will be $175 include shipping.
