Ya, I guess Canon should stop listening to photographers. They should serve the feature counters instead. That's where the money is isn't it? Come on Canon!! I know you are listening!!
Kit, I don't think you understand our point. Canon listens very very intently to their PRO 1D customers. That's why in my earlier analogy, I call the 1D customers the "served" class.
The frustration is coming from Canon's non-1D customers (5D, 10/20/30D, 300/350/400D), which have become the "serving" class. We get throne a bone or two, some scraps at times, and have not been treated as customers very much. To us, Canon's philosophy is "You'll get what we give you, and you'll be content", which is a huge stark contrast to their philosophy for 1D class customers "Oh Mighty 1D customer... how should I serve you today?".
We talk about how much thought, how much design has gone into shaping, designing, crafting the 1D models. In contrast, other non 1D models are often shoe-horned, crippled, and distanced.
We're also photographers very much like those 1D users, so please don't mistake frustration of being given second rate attention to being feature-obsessed.
