One more thing, they give the warranty themselves for most of the models. So can be consider "GREY" set if you want to. But if you trust their "capability" to "warranty" your products, then you buy it. I already exchanged one to one for 550D after 1 week, due to one pixel error of the sensor of the old one![]()
DD paralllel imports their products for sale here...it is hence GREY...there should be no argument about this
Grey sets are not warrantied by manufacturers... this is to protect their in-country authorized dealers... this means, if you buy a Nikon camera/lens, and it screws up, you bring it to Nikon Service Centre, it is at their liberty to provide repair services, even if you have cash to throw at them... the shop's warranty is supposed to cover such cases...but as a fellow forummer suggested, it is best to assume such warranty doesn't exist in reality...
there's a market for grey equipment.... especially if one is about to leave the country and even with a full authorized local warranty, it makes little difference..then spending lesser for a brand new equipment, makes plenty sense...
it seems accurate an account that you do not have to pay DD any deposit money for an ordered item...you pay only after you inspect the goods at their premise...inspect until happy then pay.. this, I confirmed thru an email from DD recently
not every item is cheaper..that's for sure...but some items are cheaper for sure... eg. AF-S Nikon 18-70mm zoom is listed as S$657 in DD...popular funan shops have quoted me S$830-850... this is a 25% discount...substantial enuf for me to undertake the risk of a Grey set...but that's me...
i am not related to DD in any way...
