Items From DD Electronics

One more thing, they give the warranty themselves for most of the models. So can be consider "GREY" set if you want to. But if you trust their "capability" to "warranty" your products, then you buy it. I already exchanged one to one for 550D after 1 week, due to one pixel error of the sensor of the old one:)

DD paralllel imports their products for sale here...it is hence GREY...there should be no argument about this

Grey sets are not warrantied by manufacturers... this is to protect their in-country authorized dealers... this means, if you buy a Nikon camera/lens, and it screws up, you bring it to Nikon Service Centre, it is at their liberty to provide repair services, even if you have cash to throw at them... the shop's warranty is supposed to cover such cases...but as a fellow forummer suggested, it is best to assume such warranty doesn't exist in reality...

there's a market for grey equipment.... especially if one is about to leave the country and even with a full authorized local warranty, it makes little difference..then spending lesser for a brand new equipment, makes plenty sense...

it seems accurate an account that you do not have to pay DD any deposit money for an ordered item...you pay only after you inspect the goods at their premise...inspect until happy then pay.. this, I confirmed thru an email from DD recently

not every item is cheaper..that's for sure...but some items are cheaper for sure... eg. AF-S Nikon 18-70mm zoom is listed as S$657 in DD...popular funan shops have quoted me S$830-850... this is a 25% discount...substantial enuf for me to undertake the risk of a Grey set...but that's me...

i am not related to DD in any way...

AF-S Nikon 18-70mm zoom is listed as S$657 in DD

my bad...this is a mistake...i meant AFS 70-300mm zoom is listed at S$657

Sorry I know this post has been around for quite some time but I think it's better to ask here than restarting a brand new post.
I stumbled upon this page and found the price are indeed quite competitive for canon lenses. I was not sure whether to buy from here so did a search around CS and found mixed comments. Few things I wanted to check:

1. Is DD electronics considered an authorised dealer, hence international warranty?
- I searched for 'DD electronics, canon, authorized dealer' on google and turned out that it appeared on CANON USA's list of authorised dealer. The address is registered in 'texas', and checked indeed, DD electronics has a branch in Texas. So does it mean, its products should be genuine, with a valid warranty?

2. I am only intending to buy lenses and flashes, because the price is indeed very competitive. But I really want to make sure they're honest dealers, from others' experiences.

If not...then I'll just have to wait until next year I travel to HK and get lenses cheap there. Sigh. Have to save $.

I bought a prime lens from them. It's still working fine after 8 months. Even if there's no warranty makes no difference cos the pricing is so much cheaper than traditional authorised shops.

they have good prices ...
it seems like im tempted to get nikkor 50mm 1.8...
SGD 152 before 2% cash discount...

1.) I think their are registered Author dealer in USA, BUT not in SG, so mean not Local Author dealer. but Pallerer Importer. Hence their sell genuine products.:bsmilie:

2.) They have shop warranty still not bad. but don't espect it's as good as authorized dealer service. but I think not every authorized dealers service is good, some are bad too.

for me less than $1k product I am willing to take the risk as their brand new price sometime as good as those selling in b&s over here

or if u wan lagi cheap just go ebay HK, price is vali competitive

No wonder the B&S section boh send li nowadays.

No wonder the B&S section boh send li nowadays.

haha.. not really lah... DD don't really carry a very wide range of product... only selected brands and range.. so B&S still high in demand...

they have a shop in australia as well, was suprised when my friend over there was showing me where he buys his gear from.

I guess if the B&S price for a 2nd hand item whose warranty has expired is higher or similar to the same brand new item sold by DD, i would definitely buy from DD cause at least its brand new and have shop warranty(better than no warranty) ;p

I'm currently shopping around for the Sigma 150-500mm lens for Nikon and the price seem to hover around S$1600 in most shops.

DD is offering the same lens for an unbelievably low price of S$1185
http://ddelectronics.com.sg/products/Sigma-150%2d500mm-Lens-APO-DG-OS-HSM-Nikon-Mount-.html#

I'm a bit doubtful as to why the low, low price? Is the item used? Or any other reason why they would sell an item very much below the price of other shops? No warranty?
For your infor the lastest price now for sigma 150-500mm is $1127.

No wonder the B&S section boh send li nowadays.

i dun noe now as currently me nothing to sell already
but curious as many sellers seem keep selling diff things for past 6 mths  ...

DD carries a wide range of mainstream products, many of which are competitively priced to give B&S sellers a run for their money.

just to get it right, so cash payment means the website's listed price multiplied by the 7% GST THEN a 2% discount?

Question to those who have purchased from DD Electronics.

Is it worth purchasing their extended warranty?
You need to consider whether they will still be in business when you try to claim warranty service from them 18 months from now since this is a shop warranty and not from authorized dealers.

I have ordered a lens from there after so many reviews. Fingers crossed hope it all goes well!
But the store person has been calling me almost everyday to keep me updated when are the stocks expecting to arrive - when it was delayed he also called me up. So not bad so far.
Will have to see the final product to decide!

Question to those who have purchased from DD Electronics.

Is it worth purchasing their extended warranty?

I bought lenses from them. Not just one but three of a period of 1 year. Place your order, walk in and collect it and make your payment. Lenses seldom spoil unless you don't treat it well.

No need to purchase extended warranty. My first lens bought from them is already more than a year old. Still good. This is as much as I can say. The salesman seems honest but is not knowledgeable. I would give them a rating of 9.5/10 if you think John 3:16 is 10/10.
