Items From DD Electronics

been tracking the discussions here about the reliability of the store, so was a little apprehensive.

but some of their prices were quite good, and their location is near my workplace, so decided to give it a shot.

started with some email correspondences about d700 and 16-35 f4; emails were prompt (within half hour-one hour) and polite.

prices quoted were (in SGD) 2861 and 1674 respectively -- only if by cash. if by card, 2920 and 1709 respectively.

had scouted Funan, best prices i heard were 3050 and 1810, cash. there was a shop that quoted 3007 for the d700 but i don't trust that shop.

d700 was out of stock at DD, so i settled for the lens. it looked okay to me. tested some shots, also seems fine. the staff was very polite too.

and as mentioned by others (and cofirmed by DD), warranty is "in-store" and for one year.

On top of that they offer 30-days one to one exchange

DD Electronic does not deal in SGD on their website?
i tried change currency but there is no SGD

the shop is crowded now .. i past by everyday 6.30 at least 5-8 ppl inside

Anyone knows if the prices displayed on the website really include GST? It says "All Prices Include GST" at the homepage, but the "About Us" page says otherwise:

"Local Pickup – DD Electronics Singapore allows you to pick up from us! If you want to pickup from our office and warehouse that is ok, but as we are a ecommerce business we do not operate a retail store, this is so we can keep prices low. If you come to our address below it should be only after getting your order confirmed via our website so we can have the items ready. Customers who are picking up pre arranged pickups can pay upon collection at our office. Please note that for local pickup prices need to be in SGD and you will need to add GST. For a list of our Singapore Local prices you can find it here - http://www.ddelectronics.com.sg"

All prices includes GST minus 2% off for cash payment. How did I know? I already bought from them

The price reflected on the website is before the 2% discount.

Actual price = Advertised price X 0.98 (only if you are paying in cash)

Just bought myself and my friend the Speedlite 430...pricing is lower than from B&H.

The warranty inside the box is internaltional warranty...I wonder if it is valid here...

If you are able to register it online, it should be valid

Need to check which country the warranty card is from and go to the appropriate country's website to register. I believe their stocks are mostly from USA.

I believe some of their stock is from HK as well... I got my 24mm from them and the warranty card state Nikon HK... and so is my friend's 50mm 1.4 ...

Aside to local warranty, if I bought a Canon camera from DD electronics, I can still bring it to Canon for repair right?

nope, grey sets.

DDElectronics Singapore T&C
As we are a direct importer or parallel importer, the responsibility of the warranty belongs fairly with us. However, some products we do sell come with worldwide warranties provided by the manufacturer (PLEASE NOTE: The validity of international warranties and manufacturers’ acceptance of said warranties vary from country to country for items not sourced in the country where the customer wants to obtain warranty service.) In Singapore, most major equipment manufacturers will not accept international warranty claims for products not sourced directly from a local distributor. In Singapore, to obtain warranty service during the first 12 months, simply bring the items directly to DDE Electronics for service.

Being a grey set, CSC has the right to reject service to the camera, such less free services.

But in any case, you are cover with 30 Days 1 to 1 exchange and a 1 year warranty from DD... anything that happens after that *touchwood* probably have to find independent repair outlet

The first "30-days 1-1 exchange" could be, hopefully not those kind whereby within 30days, faulty, they blame you that you've dropped it, even when you didn't or refuses to exchange for you.
That's what I'm worried as i might get 60D or 7D from them.

Thanks for the replies.

Even if I pay them for servicing, they won't do it too? Then if really spoil, DD electronics had the technicians to repair it?

Yeah Cisco System, I'm planning to get my 7D from them too... Outside is about $400 extra compared to theirs.

Which sets me to think that those sold in the BnS section without warranty might so happen to be a grey set. Don't you guys think so? In this case, there might be grey sets passing around anyway. Haha.

For Canon products not covered by Canon Singapore warranty, CSC will repair it for a fee.

Repair for a fee is always better than REJECT repairing even for a fee. That's my main concern loh. If not, where the hell can I go for repairs? Hahaha!
