Nope. Shops don't give filters. Real cheapo ones cost around 10 bucks. The cheapest i got for a good filter was $15. Haha...Made by Hoya-Japan. Hoya Filters are good. Unless you want the best filters, get B+W. Also depends on the size you are getting.


Lens hoods cost about $40+ for the original ones. The 3rd party ones cost lesser.

I got the extended 2 years warranty during Comex08 also.
It is because I got one free 50mm F/1.8 mkII free with purchasing of the 2 years warranty.
So I think that it is a good buy.

I've gotten filters for my kit lens and 55-250mm lens. Original hoods for my 50mm and 55-250mm lenses. I made a nice little cardboard hood for my kit lens. Which i hardly put on, because i have no black paint to paint it black and it looks weird with a different colour. Besides, it was a prototype version i made. Haha.


I've not updated my camera either...haha...i believe, you download the new firmware and upload it to your SD card and go to the menu settings to update the camera from the card. It's an easier way. Unless you want to use the cable, then plug into your computer, then windows will give you some crap message and make you tensed up and stressed.:bsmilie:


Is there any significant improvement to the firmware? I'll wait for 1.1.0 to come out, then I'll update.

depends on the size of the lens thread. Kit lens should be 58 mm.

They will probably give u the correct filter, standard kit lens size, 58mm. Prolly a cheap one but good enough for protection. All my lens comes with it's own hood so far. But yes different lens have different hood models.
