Hi guys, have not gone myself but from what i've heard they teach the basics to understanding the camera such as the modes, features, and of course how to use it properly. So if you guys need to learn by all means, it's free anyway! 3 month cap from the day you purchase your canon camera tho.

oh....there is 3 months cap...wa....i think i got mine in sep....so i got to book the course soon...

I think most of us here are lacking in a solid tripod dept, I myself use a benro which is sufficient. Seeing as it's for travelling you might wanna consider a carbon fibre Manfrotto tripod, it'll be light ,last you awhile and at least you know you're camera won't topple over when the wind blows. :p

I got the Canon tripod but I haven't really tested my equipments yet due to school commitments.

It's quite of bulky to bring it out though.

Be sure to stand real close to it just in case. :p When you test the tripod that is.

I also own a Canon tripod which I got that free from the COMEX08.
However, I think that it is too risky to use that for 450D.
So far, din try to use that at all.
Normally, I will still use my Hakuba brand tripod which I got that from Japan last time.
Personally, I think that it is much solid than my Canon free tripod.

well a tripod is my next priority item right now...cant really shoot without a tripod now (been using my friend's). i have done my research and i too want a starter tripod that is steady enough to hold my camera...yet not have the tripod to be a white elephant when (if) i eventually switch to a bigger tripod. as such i have decide to get a travel tripod that is CHEAP, LIGHT, SMALL, yet able to SUSTAIN 2-3kg of weight. i have narrowed my choices to

1) SLIK sprint pro ~$100
2) manfrotto 725b ~$150

both fold to less than half a metre and both weight around 1kg. both can extend to ard 160cm and can sustain 2.5kg and 3.5kg respectively. however, both are out of stock...sian.

hope someone finds this useful...this just applies to me though. any experts on tripods feel free to comment on my reasoning and correct me if im wrong!

Canon tripods are good for holding flashes...haha..

gman

Ouch. Canon company will be heartbroken to hear comments like these. Haha.

haha nuuuuuuuu! I'm just saying if by chance there was wind when you have a off cam flash with umbrella mounted there's a strong chance it will topple as well. lol

canon company wont be heartbroken...they earn so much from selling accessories like lens hood and tripod collars...free lousy tripods dun mean anything to them!
