It is still around that price now.

Since I own most of the lenses you're talking about, I'll just add my 2c, hopefully you can make a proper informed decision.
1) I shoot with the TSE most of the time without tripod, maybe 95% of my TSE shots are done like that. I hardly take architechture, but I do take landscapes. Of course it is good to have a tripod and shoot with the TSE because you can line up the shot very precisely and repeat if you find something isn't correct. Shots taken with tripod also eliminate camera shake, which is a factor when using such a heavy lens, nevertheless I have taken plenty of shots without a tripod and still get good results.
2) The TSE24II which you were considering is about the same price as the 24-70II, give or take a couple of hundred +-. So this should not be a reason to not consider this option if this is really what you want.
3) I would have to agree that the 24-70 would be more useful for shooting people. Why didn't you discover this earlier?
4) While it is true that MF lenses take some getting used to, if you are not prepared for the shot, whether it is manual or autofocus, you will miss the shot.
Having said that, given that you are fairly new to photography and TSE lenses are really a very specialised section of lenses which I would consider to be more for the advanced user, I would certainly not recommend that you get it at this instance. To use the TSE lens requires a certainly amount of patience and dedication. Of course you can use it like an normal manual lense and not use the TS functionality, but that would be an real waste of money.
All the best with your search.
dtwatson said:Thanks so much for your advice, I just check MS color about the TS-E price, they give me 3800 for 17 and 3200 for 24, and 24-70II for 2999. But price of 24-70II on the street is 27xx. After read the replies here I checked other stores, TS-E price is much cheaper, I used to buy all my equipment from MS color, and recommended 2 of my friend to buy their camera and lens there. Now I get a bit disappointed with them, last time I check the 24-70II at ms color, there're a lot of dust at the back glass.

dtwatson said:Thanks, which filter should I buy?
I bought HOYA HMC, but after each time I clean it with Tiffen lens paper, it got one more scratch on it......
Which filter is easy to clean and not easy to scratch?
Don't use the lens paper to clean the filter.
Use blower and the cloth that comes with camera (lint-free?), and/or get a lens-pen.
dtwatson said:I already lost that cloth long time ago, which brand of lens-pen should I get?

I'm very easy to get sweaty. The less the bag contacting my body, the better.
