You should have tried a HSM version to compare.
Not as good as USM... but still better than the screw...

I posted this mainly hope people will consider carefully before getting a Pentax.
Funny I'm leaving Olympus for Pentax... I wasn't interested in all the earlier Pentax DSLRs (how do you actually pronounce "*ist"???) but the K10D's feature set and performance was so appealing I bought one
Soon I'll be transitioning (ie. sell my Olys) over the lenses to Pentax (except the DA* 16-50 will probably give that one a miss).

Just keep it lah, since you should be able to sell the fisheye.

That was their Digital Ver 1.0 era, I think. Since then Pentax has became a whole lot more interesting and its going to look even better in the coming months....join the rebellion! Fight the Dark side!

Like bro longko said, you ought to keep it, it is after all not a commonly available lens. A 300mm prime tele isn't the most commonly used focal length and we're not talking a few hundred dollars here. I guess you need to be patient (Pentaxian trait) and wait for the right seller. If you're looking for a quick sale, rather than post on the different forums, put it up on eBay, you'll definitely have a worldwide audience looking at the item. While doing my searches, I found that there is a US eBayer who bought not 1, but 3 sets of the Pentax 300mm f2.8. So there are definitely people out there who are buying...No one is buying my FA* 300mm even though people are moving onto Pentax...
I would like a autofocus 300mm lens, but still waiting out for the 300mm DA* F4 SDM.
I would also like to add that ebay prices are a reflection of the global demand for pentax lenses. People buy into their DSLR with no new lenses, they start looking for the old ones. If you look at the LBA threads of Pentax SLR forum at DPreview you'll know....

but on the other hand, don you see the buyer save 15-20% as well? :bsmilie:Seriously, bro & sis who are considering getting a Pentax, please do some research. Also go test out other brands in shop before you settle for Pentax.
K100D is value for money, but it doesn't mean it'll suit you best. K10D won many awards this year, great handling & build, & great functions, but it doesn't mean it's for you.
Also consider the type of photography you are interested in, so you can better plan for the type of lenses & accessories you need. Some brands have better advantage over another. Don't rush to get a certain camera, just because you heard good things about them.
If you are in for test & sell, be prepared to sell at 15-25% discount of your purchased price. Pentax pool is very limited.
It doesn't dissappoint me if someone prefer other brands over Pentax. But I do get abit sad to see people wasting money & found out later Pentax doesn't work for them.

1) Can pentax get 85 1.8 at$ 400 pentax 77 1.8 $$$$ ??.second hand i mean. 501.7 bought from fw at $250 pentax, nikon new 501.8 at 175 secondhand at 140+- result tested cant tell the difference, 80-2002.8 i can get $680 onetouch 1100 two touch easy get and can sell easy if you need of money.By pentax you cant right and how much the secondhand cost?? 80-2002.8FA:dunno:

I guess you can say what you want about the 50mm, but the 77mm is a league of its own. You can't even compare how much better the 77mm is in portraits. My portrait shoots of couple have never ceased to amaze people with the 77mm.
