i love this finishing too. super retro look.

Just to clarify, the viewfinder on EP2 is optional and ep1 owners can also buy separately and fix on EP1?

Nope. Only on EP-2.

It attaches the same way, though, via the new Accessory port on the back beneath the hot shoe, which means that it won't work on the E-P1.

Not likely, since the VF-2 needs to be powered somehow through the use of the 'what looked like USB port' and it is missing on the E-P1. It might be interchangeable between E-P2 and GF-1 though? :dunno:

No. Panasonic has to make their own, which should not be difficult, all they need to do is go to Epson.

This is because the size of the port in E-P2 and GF1 are different.

According to the Spanish review site, the EVF is affordable, in their place, the EP-2 kit is only EUR 100 more than the E-P1 kit. What they fail to say is that like everything else, it's only cheaper in kit form, and more expensive individually ;p

Their take is that it might be painful for E-P1 owners who could have waited, and for EUR 100 more have an outstanding EVF.

Of course, this is painful, but IMHO, only to those who just talk about cameras rather than using them. Anyway, after E-P2 will come newer models, and it goes on, something better always comes along.

In fact, I was readying to sell my GF1 if E-P2 comes with flash and faster AF (not known yet as not tested)....for the body IS...

Same here. Limiting factor for me is AF speed.

The art filters look good!

The high-quality EVF is a milestone so far in M4/3 cameras, and is an important one.

Actually Panasonic already had a similarly spec'd EVF in the G1/GH-1 (1.44M dot, 100% coverage etc) which most consider excellent - wondering why they didn't put it into the GF-1, perhaps for cost.... perhaps they'll make another version the LVF2 or something with the higher res.

Still the same LCD really a let down. No mention of improving AF also another one. Die die dont want to include a build in flash.
If the viewfinder in on, still not able to put in external flash.

They shd have stun us with built-in wireless and youtube. when you are waiting for your target to shot and nothing to do. You can watch youtube pass time. lol.

Yes, that is true. I think it is cost too, but apparently the new EVF does not cost much. But I guess $100++ extra is a lot of money in the minds of their marketing executives.

However, if the information is true that this new Olympus EVF is Epson's latest design, in my link above, then it is supposed to be the new benchmark in EVFs.

One thing about the GF1 is that it has a port, where it should be able to accept a new Panasonic EVF of higher spec than the current one, while the E-P1 has none. No choice but to buy the E-P2 if the high-quality EVF is desired.

Found this somewhere......should be Malaysia Olympus launch bah.;)

Why Olympus even bother to continue and make sub-par cameras with slow focussing, no flash, no wireless remote control is beyond me. I mean, it simply has no chance against the GF1. Only Oly hardcore fanboys and people who had not heard of the GF1 would buy the EP1 or 2.

Hi, check dpreview.com for details

IMO, the announcements between E-P1 and E-P2 are way too close. Wonder what E-P1 owners would feel?

Wish Panasonic or Olympus would develop a swivel LCD panel attachment for the E-P2 and GF1. If they can do one for a EVF, they can do one for a panel. I think a LCD panel viewer is more useful.

think better to wait for the next version

Autofocus. Only one other problem came to light with the Olympus E-P1 in my shooting, and that was a tendency for the AF system to miss focusing on smaller foreground objects in favor of the background. That still happens with the Olympus E-P2, something I wish they'd addressed with a finer AF point, as is included on the Panasonic GF1.

yups. the G1 already has this kinda specs for its EVF. nothing big or revolutionary like how some people are overreacting to it.

but if you're comparing it to the GF1's viewfinder (which i've never used. just read online) then yeah the EP2 is a step up from GF1.

Have you check out the horrible colours the GF1 gives? :)

I don't think we should look at cameras purely based on specs.

Specs is one thing, shooting with it is another. :)

Maybe the most important thing is... look into the viewfinder and see? I mean, specs are written by marketing folks, and there MUST be a reason behind that logic... :bsmilie:
