btw this was shot using my iPhone 3GS

i would like to see some DSLR users beat this
the person behind the camera matters more than the equipment he/she uses, if he/she does not know how to fully make use if the equipment then the result will not be good
The new Nokia range of mobile phones with EDoF cameras CANNOT take close up photos.
So if you own one of the new Nokia phones with EDoF, you cannot take the picture that you have shown. No matter what you do. No matter how skilled you are.
Maybe this is what Nikon meant. I don't think they meant that Nikon is the Best; or that if you don't own Nikon then you are a lousy photographer.
Another analogy is that you can be the best tank commander in the world, but will lose the fight -if your tank is an outdated refurbished WW2 vintage tank and you fight in an open desert tank battle with an enemy in an Abrams tank or Leopard2 tank.

nice attempt, but as you can see, your canon camera can achieve roughly the same as my 3MP iPhone camera'
that should tell you something already

My take on the differences in IQ only:
1) lemon pic can blow up to much bigger size than the peach pic..
2) can crop the seeds out from the lemon to a 100% and still look pretty good.
3) can see shadow noise and banding on the peach pic even at small resolution but the lemon pic is much cleaner.
4) even color details of the lemon shadown reflection can be seen quite clearly

hee hee hee :bsmilie: with all the fire bombs thrown in the direction of Nikon, actually I should not even step into the line of fire.... but I will because I dont think a freak fire like this should burn down the whole bridge ..... 
Nikon Singapore through the years HAVE CONSISTENTLY done alot of good things to help the photography community in Singapore along .
Just 6 short months ago, they were among the first to step forward with our Gambatte Japan efforts .... and how many of us enjoyed the Joe McNally talk where Nikon sponsored the rental of the GV cinema.... then there was the Big SHot reality TV show thats been running for the last 2 seasons where a photographer-centric theme has been constantly reinforced AND the general viewing public gets enlightened that it is NOT ONLY the equiptment but the Photographer (all cameras being equal)
I hear that the Pulau Bukom Shell fire is extinguished....... hope that this 'fire' has served it cause as well and that everyone walks away more aware and educated .

Thanks alot, still in a small 4*5 as for now, my pocket isn't in a good shape due to recent BBB and holiday trips. Certain chemicals like silver nitrate powder 100g cost around 200+SGD
. I am planning with saving for a small mobile grow tent (those gardening grow tent are light proof and mobile), the nova darkroom tent I saw is a bit more expensive and tedious to setup. I asked experts in the past before about wet plates and it seems that in their colder and less humid condition, they can afford 15min range from the plate out of the dip tank, expose and develop. In singapore, I think it might only be 10mins for our case.
