Gymnastics Assistant Photographer wanted for an event on 17-18 May. Details below:

17 May timing: 7am-7pm ($200-$300 depending on experience & equipment)

18 May timing: 7am-4pm ($150-$250 depending on experience & equipment)

This is a junior level gymnastics competition, so it involves children and teens, not high level athletes. So manage your expectations.

Together with me, you will be expected to photograph the event, make backups to a laptop during breaks and ensure images are stored on reliable media. The action during the event is not extremely challenging, but good AF and zoom control on your system is still essential.

You do NOT have to do any editing or post-processing of the images after the event.

Requirements:

1) Some experience with photographing sports. Preferably at high ISO (3200 and up) and shutter speeds 1/250-1/500 will suffice).

2) DSLR or ML camera with good high ISO performance. F2.8 or F4 lenses in the 24-120 range sufficient. A laptop is good to have but not absolutely essential. You need enough memory cards to last the whole day, or minimally, 2/3 of the day with off-loading to a laptop.

3) Gymnastics photography experience not required, but must be willing to learn and take instruction well. You will get to learn how to prep, use the right settings to shoot gymnastics images and the procedures required.

4) If time permits, a meetup/interview/training session may be arranged prior to the event.

5) A decent level of fitness to be able to photograph at a consistent level throughout the day. The event is not high intensity or stressful, but you need to keep your head on a swivel and be alert. Lunch is provided.

6) As images from this event involves children, using them in your portfolio will require prior permission from the child's parents which will be quite a hassle, so better to assume that you can't.

Drop me a Pm and we'll discuss from there. You can send 5-10 sample images (not more than 10) and a quick intro on yourself, name, age, experience, and gear loadout.
