do you think there'll be more price reduction on the canon models when they start selling the D300

This is the norm.... new model out, price fall...

Electronic price simply dropped too fast... unlike film days..... :(

Yup agree(in Blue) but dislike(the idea in Magenta, have to get use to it somehow:();)

I am not sure if the JD Power Survey ("Nikon tops SLR customer satisfaction") have been conducted properly. D300 and D3 have not even reached the masses yet so for Canon to fare so poorly is quite a surprise to me. And Canon's DSLRs beaten by Sony's Alpha? :o

I suppose Canon is more into customer delight than customer satisfaction.

Actually, you brought out a good point. "Delighting" a customer is actually quite different from having the customer satisfied. You know, one gets delighted when he gets married, but that's quite different from having a satisfying marriage.

I was "delighted" when Canon made the full-frame sensor accessible to mere mortals. But I am hardly satisfied that nothing much has been innovated in terms of usability since the 20D.

Nikon made their user sell off the FF lenses and now they have to reinvest. How hilarious for Nikonians to say that their 1.5x is so good. Now the Nikonians have to squeeze their balls again and accept that FF.

hahhaha!!this is really funny!!:sweatsm:

nope, not all. i kept all my 35mm format lenses.

and for the record, the DX lenses can still be used on the 35mm FX DSLRs.

I just tried the eye control a few days ago, and it absolutely rocks...

If canon just updates the processor for the eye control, and dials up the senstivity, It's going to rock my world.

And it had better come out in the 5D mk2 LOL

Eye Control? Canon reintroduced it again?

I think he was referring to the older film cameras.

The survey doesn't measure product quality, but rather how happy more than 7,500 buyers are. Consequently, an $800 camera could get a higher score than a higher-quality $1,600 camera from a rival, as long as customers are happier with their purchase.

I guess that "first" purchase is never enough for Canon Cams... that's why Canon users are Never satisfied until they've got all the red Ls and 1Ds.

That's why not satisfied lah.

But really the stripping down of functions and features for the xxD and xxxD series will surely affect satisfaction especially since the intro to D200.

Haha, I think you've said it, it is Canon's strategy to make sure that we customers are never satisfied, so that we will always be looking to buy their next product.

Will we be satisfied even when we've got all the red Ls and 1Ds? No, for they will release the Mk II version for the lenses and the next 1DsMk? It never stops, ALWAYS delighting....the dark side seems brighter.

LOL!

I'm just glad I didn't spend a ridiculous amount of dough on any of their 1D bodies. Money well spent on the lenses though, love 'em sweet f/2.8 glasses ;p

hahaha, bloody f/2.8 lenses... cost a bomb and bloody big too.... especially the 14-24, f/2.8... lookin at it and considering tt some1 in a post earlier said that nikon cannabilise some of their dslr, wlnd't it be the same for the lens, the 12-24 f/4.0 is redundant eh? i really don't mind the extra 2mm for the 2.8, not sure 4 others out there.... hahaha

about canon milking their consumers, i guess this is somewhat true in the prosumer and consumer market... despite being a nikonian, i love their "white" lenses... hehehe

btw, any canon users coming over to the darkside? i suggest we nikonians do a welcoming party or some sort... kekekeke

no offence meant and sry if any1 gets emo over this...

12-24f4 is a DX lens so you'd get 18-36mm.

14-24f2.8 is FX lens, you get 14-24mm. If the distortion control is as good as Sigma's 12-24f4.5-5.6 then it's a very good and fast WA. AFAIK, no other manufacturer have such lens.

I gave some serious thought about this. Rather sick of Canon's handicapping strategy. (Strangely enough, every company seems be characterized by some stupid trait, e.g., Sony stuff is expensive etc.)

But Nikon does not offer anything akin to 10-22 lens (Nikon's equivalent starts at 12 mm; don't even mention Sigma), 17-55 f/2.8 IS (Nikon's equivalent has no VR) or 70-200 f/4L IS (won't tolerate f/5.3 at 200 mm in Nikon's 70-300 lens). Besides the D300 sensor does not look promising, based on some samples floating around the web. The D3 is too expensive and large.

So, I will stay in Canon's camp for now.

So Canonians buy 20D then 30D then 40D ........ Nikonians buy D300 for US$500 more but Canonians burn a bigger hole for buying more unsatisfied cams. Canonians will soon realize the Canon tricks and move to the dark side.:devil::devil:

No no, don't confuse frustration with despair. Canon's saving grace, IMHO, has always been the lenses. On that front, they have not failed their customers. To me at least, quality and viability of lenses will always take precedence over the kind of half-a$$ed bodies they churn out for the high-amateur range.

So yes, we're frustrated, but still hopeful that a good dose of healthy competition is gonna see many good things out of Canon

oh okae... didnt know about tt... i am very messed up with the crop factor thing, esp since nikon comes out wif FF... so if i use the 12-24DX on D3 will be 12-24 or have to multiple 1.5?
and if i use 14-24FX on a d70, d50, d200 etc, then have to multiply?

tanks 4 the clarificaition in advance

No effect,

Cos canon user will still use back Canon as they already have a setup.
