Wonder what would be Canon's answer to the D3??:think:

Ya loh! :bsmilie:

But really, God knows when Canon is coming up with the so-called 3D. I hope it is not a long wait.

should be in multiples of about 18 months loh.. juz dunnoe which year. :dunno:

so we can all buy 4D now while waiting for 3D,7D 5DMKII whatever the name is:bsmilie:

Not sure what specific group of photographer is really looking for FF and high fps ? Sports photographer ? Why would they crave FF ? Landscape/architectual ? Why would they need high fps ? Wedding/model photography, I would think they would appreciate FF, but 5fps should be plenty fast enough.

And your point exactly, those who want high fps may not like the large file size, so 1D3 is probably good enough ?

Seriously, I see D3 facing competition from 1D3, which are almost on par from MPix perspective, same 14bit, 10fps vs 11fps, 1.3x vs FF. For those pro with tons of white lens, I doubt D3 is a value proposition enough to switch. Similarly, 12MP vs 21MP, that is a gap. And you may say D3 high ISO, 25600, that sounds astronomical, but it's merely 2 stops above 6400. And Canon had been known to be conservative on their ISO max. Let's see the actual output from 3D before any judgement.

D300, not sure what is all the big deal other then the 51 AF points.

But I guess these 2 are good enough to give a knock on Canon's head, to make a good 5D2 for me next year :)

1D3 not full frame? Viewfinder? It feels weird to bring a 7k+ camera then to realise you can't fill an interior.

The 1.3 Crop is a disadvantage to wideangle photography, like interiors or landscapes.

However, I feel it's a good compromise between sheer image quality (and cost) in a FF sensor, or a 1.6 crop factor.

By merging FF and high FPS in the D3, Nikon has introduced something which canon has nothing to offer. Canon has denied in giving us the best of both worlds makes the D3 especially appealing.

Put it simply, if i will to start from scratch, I am inclined to choose the D3 over the 1dmk3.

Well said... I would choose the D3 over 1D mk3 as well... But to change over all my lenses... Unlikely to happen.. Thus canon will retain me as a customer!

If you measure the sensor size it is actualy 1.25 not 1.3 so 16mm has the same FOV as 20mm on FF/35mmfilm. Not wide enough? There is always the 14mm CanonL or the 12mm Sigma 12-24 zoom.

I never said that was not wide enough for me... :)

Living with 17-40 on a 20D before the 1D mk3, 16mm is plenty to me!
