Wah, didn't check this thread for a day, grow so long already!

I think in terms of IQ, the DA*300mm won't loose out lah! Even wide open at f4, still sharp as a pin, and no easily visible optical flaws. But I think the bokeh won't be the same, no matter what longer lenses always have the edge there...

Want to run before even learn how to walk... brush up your technique first, and oh btw the shot's taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mk II and 400mm lah...

Wah! Thats a big challenge. AFAIK, no serious birders here in the Pentax sub-forums. But, I'm sure they have some nice shots here and there that they will soon pull out. :D

IMHO, as Creampuff has mentioned as well. Technique is the main factor (get close, stable camera, proper technique (lighting :natural or flash; Tripod, etc), understanding of lens capability. Opportunity as well (how many shots you think was made to get those shots you and me posted as examples ;) )

here’s some pics with DA*300, hope it is useful…

Take a look at this site:

There are quite some good bird photos. It's a great tele lens, the longest that Pentax is still offering at the moment.

Thanks fengwei for the link.
Will check it out later tonight. ;)

Thanks pinhole for the effort to gather these pics for me.
They are helpful

I'm not expecting the lens to give this kind of effect/shot, juz an example only.
That shot is really tough
I'll be very happy if I can reach that level.

Bro, your pics really helpful especially with TC + DA*300 combo.
Thanks for the effort. :)

Here are a few from F*300/4.5:

Optically the DA*300/4 is even slightly better than the F*300/4.5.

Thanks again fengwei for the additional pics.
Love to hear your last sentence that the DA*300 is slightly better.
Does the lens performs the same on K-X vs other better Pentax bodies?

It only gets better when mounted on K-x ;)

Wahlao...U poison him more and more.

Next time go out with Kengoh see his new toy already DA 300!!!

After that Ken, can test? :bsmilie:

You already got your 500mm liao, what is the 300mm? :p

You already got your 500mm liao, what is the 300mm? :p

The Force is different...

500mm 3rd Party lens and Original Pentax Lens has different characteristic. Overall, I still love the IQ from my 55-300 as it gives vibrant color apart from my 500mm IQ which gives Flat tone.

So thats why...when u get the DA*300mm... I hope to test it. lol. I think Toshio would love too :bsmilie:
