[ Lens ] First review of Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8 OIS

Any good price for the 12-35 and 35-100 as well as the OM-D in HK?

Was in HK over the weekdays; the 12-35 retails at HK8200 with worldwide warranty over at
Wing Shing Photo Supplies (永成攝影器材)
旺角西洋菜街 55-57 號地下
G/F., 55-57 Sai Yeung Choi Street, Mongkok, Kowloon (branch)

No such thing as ww warranty for panny. It is limited international warranty. For panny lenses this means no support in Singapore. Don't get conned by the retailers there

Which shop in Tokyo has the best pricing for this lens? I'll be there in Feb.

I try to order from Amazon Japan 5mins ago, the page did not say out of stock, so i proceed to add to cart.
but i give me an error and ask me to edit the qty to 0 or delete the item. why?

Anyone encountered before? Does that means no stock?

Where did you try to ship to?

ship direct to my Singapore address, how much saving if ship to tenso?
anyway i also not sure how to ship to tenso.

I don't think you can ship direct to Singapore due to distributor restrictions.
That's probably why they ask you to remove the quantity.

i see, so what are the steps i should do?

create a tenso account first?
what is next?

Yup, just go to Forwarding service connecting overseas customers and Japanese online stores [ Tenso.com ] and create your account, they will give you a Japanese address to ship to.
Then just go to Amazon and fill-in this address.

But please note:
The current 12-35 sold on Amazon.jp at ¥73,800 is not by Amazon.jp but by a marketplace seller. (ships within 4-5 days)
The one sold by Amazon.jp is ¥71,629, but it's out of stock hence 1-4 weeks waiting time to ship.

Thanks for the info, but is it safe to buy from this marketplace seller?

If you asked me, I'd say wait for Amazon.jp to have stock.
I always find it safer when it's sold and fulfilled by Amazon. With Marketplace sellers, you never know what you're gonna get.

Ok, I will wait for the stock to come, I also don't feel safe too. Thank.

Got someone in japan to get for me... 71980 yen... delivering is very fast... ordered on saturday nite... monday afternoon delivered to my fren in japan... but the exchange rate from the CC is quite bad... at least eat away 2-3 yen per S$1... Also got the 35-100 as well @ 90800 yen...

Can't wait to get my hands on it next month... Will be using it on a EP3... thinking of upgrading to OMD if i can sell away the EP3...

Seems like the 'in' place to buy this lens now in Japan :)
I've been using the 12-35 on my EP3 since I got the lens in dec 12; good enough for me ; will wait for the EM6 kekeke

That's what I'm intending to do. If keep following new models, damn pain in the pocket lol.. Now damn gian the 12-35mm after reading all these comments.... Poison

now problem is, whether i should get a prime lens or get this 12-35mm for street/travel usage..
any experts can advice on pros and cons?

ps: going to japan for the trip.

Go for 12-35mm f2.8 and you would never be disappointed after your trip to Japan.

I somehow find that I still like to use primes cos the 12-35 can't seem to give me the type of bokeh I like. It is a very good general-use lens tho. Very versatile

mixed responses

@iise7en so in your opinions, paying a premium for the 12-35mm over primes is justifiable?

@diddy what primes do you recommend for travel use? i dun think i'd keep switching lens unless i need lots of zoom, which i'll use 40-150 kit lens

Ok for me, 12-35mm is quite versatile, rich in colour rendition and produces good IQ within 12 to 35mm with good bokeh. Also "24-hour" lens throughout dawn to midnight. It is my honest opinion.
