I just realised why GST is not charged.
The 12-35 and 35-100 sold by Amazon Japan is not sold directly by Amazon JP, but by a Marketplace seller.

So I'm guessing that since they are sending to Tenso, which is a local address, they do not put any invoice on the box.
Since no invoice, Tenso has the choice of either guessing the cost, or contacting you to give them the cost.

My guess is that they just took the easy route and guessed a low price, thus saving you GST.

Actually not really.. cos the delivery came with invoice from tenso stating the amount u purchase from amazon JP. Anyway so long we don have to pay, all of us benefit from it.

Actually all of us won't benefit then, because then it really depends on luck. If customs decide to check you'll still have to pay GST.

Really??? Me puzzled...
Guess some of us are really lucky without paying GST although I am regular buyer of Amazon Japan-Tenso.
As the saying goes "No Risk, No Gain. That means you have to make your own risk by purchasing lens online, you still have to face your consequence in what condition your purchase arrives at your doorstep, manage to bypass without paying GST, no local warranty,etc.
It all depends on your guts...:sweat:

Received my lens today. Took only 3 days to arrive from Tenso Japan. Super fast! Fantastic service - excellent packaging. Everything in pristine condition. Very impressed with Amazon.jp and tenso service. They took pains to update the customer (me) of the status of the package (i.e arrival and departure) until delivery. :thumbsup::thumbsup:
