Just a latest update: At least they kind of rectified my consumer confidence in the brand/distributor. They called and offer me an exchange of the body. They said they checked the new body and there's no hot pixels in video mode (which is my primary concern at this moment). I'm happy with the arrangement and hopefully the video is really as 'clear' as they claim.

My advice to those who bought new d7k is the same: check your item at the shop carefully before purchase or else u'll need to go through the same trouble as me. Now my body s/n and box s/n different already.

u will need to bring your box to exchange.

they told me the exchange set is good too. but i found the bright hot pixel on the spot and they remap for me after that. :D

good luck to u.

I remember my the first laptops. Get hot pixels but life goes on after the initial shock. Dust spots are worst imho. But we live with them and just photoshop them away. They are not show stoppers. Don't pixel peep in a darkened room. If you didn't notice them before why bother? Succumbing to mass hysteria isn't going to help. Leave out conspiracy theories like Nikon rushing out faulty products, time will tell for sure.

May I know the serial number you bought at iPhoto?
How to check for Hot Pixel?

I am sure if u are me, u will not talking this way.
When u want to shoot a dark sky with only a moon, but suddenly it is surrounded by unknown colorful star, then u will understand that it is not pixel peep. It is too obvious to draw ur attention.

Hi Guys, my friend is looking for the D7000 kit, however we don't think body only is available now, since most places are out of stock, anyone know any dealer still have stock for the S$2K deal? I know Audio House has it but for $2,299 probably he should just wait it out. Thanks.

actually... did Nikon users like D700, D300/s, D90 or D500... experience Hot pixels during their initial purchase with the product?

My view will be Christmas is coming. Not to worry abt the stocks, believing it will be filled very soon.

Let's don't be a carrot!

Maybe I have not been observant but since I started with D80, D300, D700, D5000 and currently D3, never come across hot pixel issue. This has delayed my plan to get D7k. :(

Hihi,

Wish to know where can I get the set with $1650 inc gst?

Wah!! You still want to buy now after reading about the hot pixel issue arghhhk?

Yo Chef, nothing is perfect... I believe nikon will sort them out petty soon. Perhaps the coming batch is already hot-free... I just offloaded my camera to another cser. So need to fill mine up on my coming trip to states next month. D300s and D7000 is in my wish list...

What happened??? :o

Last Friday, I purchased my new camera (D7K) from South Asia Computer Ptd Ltd. So, I started to take photos with my familys by using this new toy. Im very happy about it.

On Sat & Sun during the shoot, sometime on & off I find that I unable to select the autofocus mode ( Press the AF-mode button and rotate the main command dial). I need to off the power to restart the camera or rotate the focus mode selector from AF back to M as well back to AP (numbers of time), then I able to select the autofocus mode:thumbsd:

So yesterday before lunch, I called the Nikon Service Centre (NSC) service hot line and a guy by the name of Mr Freddy Choo (Technical Support Excutive) picked up my call. After listened to my story and he suggested me to bring down the camera to NSC for checking. I also told him that I able to drop by during lunch time but is a bit rush for me and I need the camera urgently for next week appointment. He then ask me wherether can I drop by after lunch time and I may look for him at the NSC. He will assist me in checking the system (D7K).

Nevertheless, I'll quickly apply leave and rush down to the NSC to look for him (without Q UP);p. At the NSC he inspected / checked my camera and he did tried to restart / rotate the focus mode selector and restoring the default settings, BUT ALL FAILED.

At that time I also discovered that my camera had some hot pixel and he suggested me to send in the camera for checking cum repair the focus mode function, as for the hot pixel he claim that after remapping the hot pixel might not able to remove it. I rejected his suggestion and I requested him (Nikon) to give me a letter (black & white), to proof that the camera has 2 main faults (camera fault and not due to damage), sothat I can go back to South Asia Computer Ptd Ltd for exchange / refund.

As I need the letter urgently because yesterday is Friday (less then 7 days of purchase), sothat I can go back to the shop (b4 the shop close on Friday) to exchange the camera. About 10 min later , Mr Freddy Choo informed me that he unable to offen me the letter and he suggested that I bring back my camera 1st, he will informed the sale dept to follow up my case and Monday he will give me a call to fix appointment for exchange the camera and he also inform me not to be worry about the 7 day exchange policy

THIS IS WHAT WE WANT, A CARE SERVICE MAN FROM NIKON.
But, I still need to wait for his call on Monday.. lets pray hard.
