Panasonic has certainly been better in af and hi iso since gf1, the gap has closed with ep3, its kinda reach a point of negligible difference in af speeds, maybe c-af and af accuracy is more important. Both do have great innovations, its just how important or useful is it for individuals. Isn't it great to have competition even within m43? :)

One shop in peninsula quote me $18xx with 50% deposit. Another in Funan quoted $17xx in cash, no deposit required.

I think you visited the same shops as me. :)

The shipment for me is 3rd week of Apr. Black only

There is nothing funny here. Olympus is known for innovation. But that does not mean that the innovator is the majority leader or the market leader. In any case, this detracts from the OM-D discussion which the more you play with the camera, the more useful features you actually find in the camera. I played with the Sony NEX7 and the XPRO1, both of the just dun have the operational capability, functionality, and the speed of the E-M5. And I am not talking about image quality here, and not to say that E-M5 is worse or what. If you cannot get the photo in the first place, because your camera is locked up while the image is being written on the card, or your AF is slow etc, you have no image.

I pre-ordered the Silver Body only this afternoon @ IT Show Olympus booth, was told that Silver body only left with one stock (which is weird considering it's only pre-order and if its true then it means supply is really2 limited).
For the IT show freebies, Chose the MMF3 naturally, but was told collection is together with the camera. No exact date was given, instead i got the "early April" vague answer...

I was only given the Courts Printed receipt to hold on to as proof of order (Paid fully already), and someone is supposed to call me when the camera arrives and collect at Courts Somerset.
The anticipation is going to be hard each passing day :P

How was everyone else's pre-order experience?

Preordered mine with a shop at funan too... 17xx..

I saw Felicia chin! Omfg I
She was my JC schoolmate. No need to omfg over her lah. Wait till you go to LA and bump into some Hollywood star, then you know what is OMFG (in all caps)! :D

I confirmed my pre-order 12-50 kit in black with MSC; the price is competitive with other retailers (e.g. the one in Funan). I was told that body-alone sets are fully allocated, so stock must be pretty limited.

Time to sell my 60D and 15-85 lens!

Yep.. Just that panasonic is more known for tvs n rice cookers!! :)
IMHO, I think panny lumix marketing doesn't have the marketing $$ as compared to oly. And of course much much less than Nikon n canon. So it's innovations don't get across to the gen public.

Also got freebies?

Ah? I didn't ask.. Not that interested in freebies. What matter most is the cam at the 'street price'. Wanted to just get the body for 13xx but hesitated as the shop say body abit difficult. So I preordered the silver em5 with 14-42II+40-150R bundle(same price as the 12-50 bundle).

Feature 9 is indeed interesting. Do u find the buttons a little small and hard to press? Would prefer dial wheel like the PL2/P3, but then weatherproofing might be a problem.

Something that I would like to have: focus peaking and iso 100 or even 50...

I played the camera for a good 10min or longer (not many guys waiting there then), the camera feels good in hand, would've been better if the grp is a bit deeper. Love the two dials on the right, but a few buttons are too small and recessed to reach. Focusing is fast w the 12-50 lens, but I can't say it's any faster than my G3 which is already very fast w 12/25/45 mounted. Can't tell how is the IQ 'cause guys there didn't allow me to put in SD card (I'm no handsome enough?). Viewfinder is a bit too bright, brighter than what's shown on the LCD screen, same as G3. The back screen is a bit tight and not too easy to flip out, might need some getting-used-to. G3 screen is much easier to flip and turn.

Overall feel it's a very good camera, but not as good as it's already hyped I think. Dont think I'd get it though, I'm keeping my G3.

Ya, AF amongst the newer m43 bodies is not really different, it has become a standard no longer a selling point, unless the C-AF is as fast, that would be something. The guys knows you not buying so dun let you try, i put in mine for 10 good minutes and also on the Canon G1X, no problem, haha. VF can tune brightness. I would hope for swivel screen too like G3.

Yeah... Cos I am a dslr user.. OMD will be my first m43.. Intend to couple the OMD with my F-mount lenses too.. But don't mind trying out the kit m43 lens. Will be getting the oly 45mm and 12mm primes too.

I am happy with the grip. If you like deeper grip, get the modular grip and battery. Its sweet.

Important question here. If you buy silver, what colour is the flash then?

Wonder how much $$$ the grip will cost.
