Would prefer a black flash, even with a silver body.

Tried it with the 24/1.8 today on the NEX 7 and I think it's a bit of a hit and miss sometimes. I think the issue is the depth of field of the given lens and the resolution of the sensor.

The other problem with the NEX 7. I had a class 10 SD card in it. And although it shoots 10 fps, but in P mode, shooting in JPEG only, I take one shot, and the camera spends the next 5 seconds busy, writing to the card. I cannot take another shot or do anything else. That is a total deal breaker.

With the E-M5, I can keep shooting even if the card is still writing. Sometimes, I fire off a whole series of 9 fps shots, and I realize that after 10-15 seconds, the card is still writing. But I do not lose any functionality in the camera while all this is occuring. Mind you, I was testing it while shooting RAW + JPEG.

Yeah... Cos I am a dslr user.. OMD will be my first m43.. Intend to couple the OMD with my F-mount lenses too.. But don't mind trying out the kit m43 lens. Will be getting the oly 45mm and 12mm primes too.

$17xx seems to be a good price. PC show $1988

After spending 1 ++ hours browsing from page 1 to 23 forum message.... ... I shall decide to buy OMD black series with a 14-42mm II R black lens and add a MMF 3 for my various 4/3 lens and a OM-MFT convertor for my OM 50mm f1.4 and of course lastly an additional battery.... .... pray pray very hard not to exceed $1800~~~~ will commit when the product is out.

it should look something like this in order to be very compact.

Thats why Sony is a consumer electronic company.

Ic . But I guess most cameras will start staggering when the buffer is full . I suppose your class 10 card may not have been fast enough or the nex maybe only works best on memory stick.

No it works on SD card. In any case, try the E-M5. I was not specifically going for the buffer, but there was no time during my 9fps bursts that the camera stopped shooting. ie. I did not seem to reach the buffer limit. The E-M5 seemed quite happy to continue shooting although the card write light was on. The only thing is that during this time, I could not change camera settings eg. modes or ISO or exposure settings. But it would continue to shoot.

Ic . In that case the buffer is really huge on the omd. Wonder how they did it could be due to the improved reading speed of the processor engine . On the 7 , I didn't experience the writing to card delays. The 9fps will start to stagger after holding the the shutter button for more than 2 seconds . I was using a 55m/s memory stick though .

But the omd has been truly impressive . I wanted to buy the extreme pro card 16gb that was on offer at it show to try on the omd yday but gg no stocks everywhere . So only play with the camera extensively .

I hope oly comes out with a omd elm-5 or something that is not weathered seAled and maintains most of the design and function at a lower cost over the next few months :) more will bite at this cam at lower price point .

They already have. That would be the ep3 in the PEN range. :-)

$1800 or street price of $1700+ for this camera is not unreasonable. I doubt they priced it like this bec its weather-sealed. Look at the Nex7 pricing. I was considering it but after considering and seeing the E-M5, i thk E-M5 is way better than Nex7 plus a lot of other features, including weather sealing, and a brand new triple function kit lens thrown in for free. Mind u, this 12-50 "kit" lens is way sharper than the 18-55 kit lens with IS on the Canon 60d. And at the end of the day, as a photographic tool in terms of function, the nex7 is still not there yet. The menu function of nex7 is seen only in the EPM1 of the olympus PEN range.

Yeah I was hoping they come up with OMD minus weather sealing heh . I am after the body only to replace my G3 and use it with my m4/3 primes. Think I will calm myself from the poison first and see what G5 has to offer.
On the Nex7, once you get used to the 3 dials (1 dial for each exposure settings) and the customised functions of each buttons, you wont need to dig into the menu system.

The NEX 7 on RAW+JPEG will buffer at 9FPS for about 15 frames and then slow down. Remember that these are 24MP files so the raw files can be 60MB+. The high end Sony memory sticks are much faster than a Class 10 SD card but they can only do so much....

Like I said, what for? So that they can sell a non-weather sealed OM-D at $100 cheaper? I hope they dun. That will make Olympus even more economically unviable. I think the OM-D is as perfect as they can make it considering how much they have crammed into it, at this price point, and the size/weight combination. For eg, if you want better image quality, go get the 5D Mark III and spend 3-4 times more money (including a good L lens to make it worth the while).

Like that, you might be better off waiting on the Panny bodies. As it is, I am actually using more Panny m4/3 lenses than Oly lenses. My favs are the 14 2.5, 25 1.4. One day, it may make more sense for me to get a Panny body. Haha!
