or this? :D

This is a real beauty. I will go for silver and invest in some chrome/silver M lenses, plus whatever native silver lenses I can find. Hope Olympus comes out with a Ti model one day.

This is a world first also, isn't it? A weather-sealed hotshoe flash unit? Just wish the FL600R is also weather sealed.

i think canon has a weather sealed flash, 580exII iirc. mI think i'd go for Oly weather sealing though >:)

In these photos, the head (or hump) looks just too tall and too sharp, a bit out of proportion too.

From this angle, it's really like a transformer:

And how you'd know you pressed the right button here:

This kind of head is a lot balanced on the old OM film camera:

But still, I might just get the silver one to match the OLy 12 and 45 lenses. Love to have IBIS and better JPG engine (too lazy to process photos nowadays)..

Fengwei, u r contradicting and self poisoning at the sometime lol!

Not really. I'm just not as thrilled as many here when looking at the EM5 :) But if the IQ is good, I might just get one, and pass the G3 to my wife so she can use it to shoot videos :D

The only things made me hesitate are the big hump and lack of built-in flash. All my digital cameras (I've had more than 20, now have 5) have built-in flash, which I use quite ofthen when take kids and family photos.

Its the same for all the Bro here....

Will wait for the launch and actual user review..... waiting veri long for a small system that can match up to the DSLR AF speed and ISO..... lets see....

looks fugly to me..I guess man'sone man's meat is another man's poison

ok thanks. btw, what do u think of this camera vs my Nex5?

With m4/3 native lenses, I think it betters the NEX5 as a system.
Lenses are sharper, faster and focal lengths are well thought out for the m4/3 2x crop, all with AV and automatic controls.
Smaller too and more properly sized form factor (no Soda can attached to cigarette pack like NEX5)

As now, Oly is already well known for its low strength AA filter for more sharpness to photos; OOC JPEG color and quality as well as IBIS.
So I'd expect nothing less from OM-D. with a newer 16mp sensor.
Wait for the reviews first of course.

NEX is better if you want to use MF lenses, as its 1.5x crop APS-C sensor does not change the FOV (ie equivalent FL) of the old MF lens as much, and it has focus peaking.

Very much same, I'm not big on this camera coz the looks, although looks is 2ndary, still using epl1 which is ugly for many. Also concern with iso 200 min and max 1/4000s limitation for a camera with quite many pro level features. Waiting for hands on and image samples b4 deciding.

Genrally, across every single forum, most readers are impressed with this latest OMD design. This camera is not only about looks but good features and usability. Overall, it's a very slick camera, like a formula 1 race car with most of the modern features. I give credit to Olympus for the guts to use the old film SLR retro looks than the standard RF looks which is cleaner but "boring". If the rumours are right, the OMD pre-order status has surpassed that of Fuji Xpro1. I will buy and keep this one for sure.

Oh dear...so nice! Looks mean!!! In fact, at first, I thought it was the old OM camera in black....looks very real retro.

This one looks so "transformer" like....very industrial...Question is how would a black lens look on the silver body?

Thanks for posting these shots. Very helpful.

i guess silver with black lens should be something like this M-1 :D

I too am sitting on the fence. I know I am choosy, but ever since I invested considerable resources into the M mount system, I have been waiting for a body that provides a big jump in performance over the 1st gen MFT cameras. Maybe this camera might be it, but I will wait patiently.

hardcore oly5050, get 2 OMD. one black to match black lens, one silver to match silver lens.

The 2 X crop sensor will make all your m lenses into short telephotos.

For G3 users , this would be a hard choice to make as the improvements in the OMD has to be significant to make the G3 redundant. The hump is controversial, maybe , they will add more curves to the hump in the next rendition. CHeers

Well, that's where the GXR comes in...

The thing is... many will look at the price tag and wonder if all the extras is worth a camera double the price...

I guess its a harder thing to weigh when you have a g3, im coming from a gf1 and only very bad reviews would turn off of purchasing this camera. And how much is the SRP of the em-5 vs the g3? is it really double..

With 14-42 lens, the Panasonic G3 retails for 700USD. With 14-42 lens, the E-M5 is 1100USD.

Not quite double, but the G3 has been out for half a year and the price has fallen to 600-650 USD since.
