hardcore oly5050, get 2 OMD. one black to match black lens, one silver to match silver lens.

Wah...if I get 2, I must really like it a lot. I dun think I will like it that much to buy 2. Haha! Should spread the budget around so that can have different types of cameras to play with.

This kind of head is a lot balanced on the old OM film camera:

Thanks for posting this. Looking at this, its seems that it is OM like and not really a replica. The OM indeed is longer and shorter. And the prism, is more pyramidal rather that flat-topped. As a result, the old OM has a true triangular look whereas the new OM has a more quadrangular look. I think I would prefer the look of the old OM, but I think there are engineering and design constraints and hence they needed it to be flat topped. One of which is the accessory port. I heard also the IBIS sensors are in there too plus of course the EVF.

Anyway, silver lens on black body does not look too bad. Has a contrast look. But I think silver body still nicer, I think.

Its the same for all the Bro here....

Will wait for the launch and actual user review..... waiting veri long for a small system that can match up to the DSLR AF speed and ISO..... lets see....

I wonder how the auto focus performs in low contrast situations. As I recall, the E-P*3 generation did not do all that well unless there was plenty of contrast. Hopefully, they've found a way to fix that.

Honestly I can't wait for the reviews of the production EM-5, and for the black version to hit our shores. I have watched many EM-5 preview videos and read the written previews, and I think this will be the m4/3 camera that makes me ditch my DSLR.

To make things better, when I "tested the water" and told my wife about the m4/3 system (basically positioned between her S95 / her dad's G12 and my 60D in most aspects) she actually suggested that I switch to m4/3 so that I have less to carry on our travels. Even if the two cost the same. Nice!

Getting my wife's approval is usually the hardest part, especially for gadgets and tech-related stuff. No choice but to use a more unusual approach to achieve the objective. ;)

Come to think about it, I might get quite uneasy when the time comes to make the switch. After all an EVF is very different from an OVF, Even though I've used the former on my previous FZ-18 super zoom. I am not sure if I can get used to it easily. I should try the camera at a shop first.

Back on topic: the EM-5 will probably come with the 12-50 as a kit. The lens looks solid, but f/6.3 is really not so hot. It is even slower than my current 15-85 at the tele end. Hopefully the upcoming Panasonic 12-35 f/2.8 (and any other Panny lenses for that matter) will work properly on the EM-5. No clicky noises please!

Although there are negative comments about the EM-5's 12-50mm kit lens with regards to its f6.3 aperture, my take is that it should complement the EM-5 well as the camera can handle higher ISO., i.e, the lens is designed for the camera's capabilities.
As the EM-5 is weather and dust sealed, this splash and dust proof lens will be good together when used at the beach, swimming pool or boating.
If the body is WR then then lens should also be WR when the situation requires it.
So yes, I will get the body together with this lens as none of the lenses I have now is weather resistant.

get 2 OMD and send your EP1, EPL1, EP3 to recycle bin.

Hahaha! Well, yeah...prob sell EP1 and EPL1. Prob will keep EPL3 and maybe EP3. Might consider selling E5.

Obviously this is an outdoor body with the 12-50 as outdoor lens. Need fast lens? Get the 12/2.0, 25/1.4, 45/1.8 or 75/1.8

now i have totally forgotten about Fujifilm X100...

this cam is now on my watchlist!

I will most probably buy the body then pair it with my Yashica ML 50mm f1.4 (C/Y mount) with adaptor! WOOT!

Welcome to the m43 club man. About time...

I have nothing against the 12-50 kit lens. It is basically in the same class as the Canon 15-85 (7D kit) and 24-105L (5D2 kit). I am just looking for something better for those who value constant large aperture over focal range (24-70L class lens).

For 24-105L equivalent, there is Olympus 12-50mm. For 24-70mm f2.8, I am pretty sure there will be new release of m4/3 12-35mm f2.8 soon.

Olympus SG just replied to some facebook posts about the EM-5 release date. It seems like the unit will be here end of March/early April.

Oh man... I hate the part "/early April"... :(

I hope Oly can come out with a premium 12-35f2, something like their legendary OM 35-80f2.8, and also a 50f1.0 to match the other legend the OM 100f2, then my world will be complete.

The only other choice would be to use the MMF-3 weather-sealed adapter and (super) high grade Four-Thirds lenses.

Panasonic will release a 12-35 and 35-100 this year.
