I think cannot larh.. I not even familiar with my camera, maybe in december bah.. ;p

im not officer dun call me sir pls. wait for the dog to stop lor. or dun shoot dogs or birds. i mean it depends what u gonna shoot la...if u wanna shoot running dogs then i LL nothing to say lor...

I think his refering to the dogs at the dog show in the morning. :p

sorry but from what i saw, it seems like you want to shoot indoor portrait. in that case a short lens would be appropriate coz u dun have much room to move ard. in fact a wide angle near 28mm effective focal length might be necessary if u are taking group photos within a small room. fast lens arent necessary; an external flash would be more useful in indoor portrait purposes.

just my 2 cents

External flash is a must in your arsenal if you don't have one yet.

Guys, What is metering? & how to use?

Guess what, i still put my camera inside the box which i 1st bought it.. ._.

70-200 without IS is only good in bright light. That is why wanted to purchase a bigger aperture lens. And also, 50mm not good enough if you are going to car show or any group taking, too short.

One advantage of 135 over 85 is because 135 can use the Canon 1.4x extender. But 85 price is much more affordable. Need think twice.

Think twice man, I know one guy take 135 only to downgrade to 85. Its too long on crop for portraits

Read this bible
For flash read this.

The concept of flash usage is steep. To my experience, one must really understand the basic of flash in photography in order to really use flash properly. It almost another course on photography

I don't understand 'group taking'. Are you referring to group shots or what?

I honestly think 135mm is wayyyy too long a focal length on a 1.6x crop camera. It fares better for head shots and the like. You will do well with the 50mm or 85mm focal lengths on a 1.6x crop camera.

For portrait shots of mid to full body length with nice bokeh, can i use a 50mm f1.8, with the background away from the subject?

Mid body with 50mm on crop -> stand 3-4m away

Full body with 50mm on crop -> stand 5 - 8m away

yalah, i am talking about head shots. Since I have 50mm f1.8 that is why I am thinking of buying 85mm or 135mm. Just went to ask, 1150 cash payment for 135mm and 499 for 85mm.

Also considering buying lens first or flash. Difficult to decide......:dunno:

Pardon me for some side tracking. Hope the users can be more supportive to what i have to say below.

I'm currently doing a small business for one of my school subject module requirement. I've set up a booth at my school and i'm selling some computer accessories, like key board protectors, LCD screen protectors, laptop sleeves and cleaning services. I'm also intending to sell custom fit LCD screen protectors for cameras like the 450D and 50D. If interested, please post me a reply or PM me. I'll give you the list and price of items i'm selling.
