i doubt so on the rework on overstock 5d2 sensors. the 5d2 has a pixel size of 6.4 microns while the 6D has 6.55microns.
this is not like bread when u can trim away and still taste the same.

This 6.54 (not 6.55) micron figure did not come from Canon and is reverse calculated. The actual could jolly well be 6.4. So to use your analogy, it could jolly well be the same piece of bread like what these people are speculating. They could of course be wrong. And we hope they are wrong and that Canon would give us newer technology.

They left it out to make the camera more robust n tough..=)..i wonder what is the New slogan for the 6d since the 600d n 60d slogan doesn't have anything to do with it
Hopefully the ISO performance and dynamic range will be better.

I am considering dumping my 5D3 for 6D. But the 5D3 peripheral cross AF sensors are giving me pause.
Anyway, here are the advantages of 6D over 5D2:
Apart from price alone, 6D is much better than 5D2 IMO
The 6D seems to be replacing the 5D2 for someone who is looking for a new FF camera. However, I have not found a compelling reason to trade the 5D2 for a 6D for those already with a 5D2. If you look at the specs, those in red are non-photographic features. What I want to find out is the dynamic range of the new sensor, the HDR capability, panoramic aids, focusing screen replacements, etc. I also found it strange that since the target market is travellers, then why a built-in flash is not included? Surely the logic of building a small body and then expecting a EX600/580/430/320 to be brought along is flawed. Of course there is the smaller EX270 but it is still against the concept of travel small and light. Since the addon flash will increase the bulk of the camera, this makes the 40g difference between the 5D2 and 6D inconsequential. Next, Low-light AF. If I am bringing my flash, then the flash will emit assist beam focus. Wouldn't this take care of low-light situations. No? Will the 6D also come with a battery grip? If it does, say goodbye to the small size. If it doesn't, it further differentiates the 5D from the 6D. Where did all the buttons disappear to in the 6D. The menu seems to have more tabs. It remains to be seen if using the menu to change settings is as convenient as hard buttons. While the 6D looks good, I guess a lot of questions still unanswered. I will hold on to my 5D2 for now.
I am not ranting about the 6D. It is a good camera. I will choose it if they launch it 3 years ago with 5D2. I find it is more of a horizontal replacement camera rather than an upgrade. In the process, Canon created a new market segment - 6D for travellers/landscape , and segregate 5D to be for portrait/wedding.

Yes I read this too from Canon and it makes me wonder about the 7D which has also been touted by Canon as having a weather resistant body. I can understand their reasoning regarding the 6D but it tends to negate their claims about the 7D. Just makes me wonder...

The keyword is "weather resistant". If you tried shooting with no protection under heavy rainfall, there is chance that water will cause a short circuit at your flash circuitry. How I know... Caused it happened to me before at Niagra falls. Cost abt $200 to change it. Haha I was just pushing it to its limits.
And about the flash, if I go travelling, I will avoid flash to reduce weight. If I really wanted flash, why settle for a less powerful one? Just like one can shoot good pics with iPhone instead of Dslr. Pop up flash? Depending on your lens barrel, maybe no use for it at all.
That's why I rather not have built in flash as I'll not use it.

Correct... that is my point. This has nothing to do on whether we like pop-up flash or not.
Canon is touting both the the 6D and 7D as weather resistant. They state that they deliberately designed the 6D without a pop-up flash to ensure weather resistance. Yet they included a pop-up flash in the 7D and still claim weather resistance. Are they not making contrary statements? How does one resolve this reasoning?
BTW: After your camera short circuited at Niagara Falls did you get it repaired at the CSC facility in Mississauga?
