Canon 6D

I guess there are different levels of weather resistance. Perhaps for 7D the Canon engineers realized the weather resistance level compromised by the flash.

When will this be releasing in Singapore?
I am guessing it will affect the 5D MK II prices a lot.

Correct... that is my point. This has nothing to do on whether we like pop-up flash or not.

Canon is touting both the the 6D and 7D as weather resistant. They state that they deliberately designed the 6D without a pop-up flash to ensure weather resistance. Yet they included a pop-up flash in the 7D and still claim weather resistance. Are they not making contrary statements? How does one resolve this reasoning?

BTW: After your camera short circuited at Niagara Falls did you get it repaired at the CSC facility in Mississauga?

No idea.... But I don't trust those with pop up flash to be weather resistant. Have not really looked into the feasibility of water getting in via the hotshoe. Anyone got comments on this one?

Surprisingly, my camera then malfunctioned for a while and later was still able to shoot but it gives a loud pop literally if u accidentally activated the flash. I fixed it back in sg. CSC told me that the circuitry for the flash part got burnt.

So beware of your pop up flash popping! :p

I called MScolor this noon to ask on the arrival date of 6D. They mentioned that this friday there will be a meeting for Canon Singapore. Hopefully the date will be confirmed by then :)

If everyone just talk about the "best" features....
Why not think about your next "best" photo?

This is an equipment discussion, so of cos the buzz is on features. For discussions on photography techniques, there are other relevant sections :-)

If you look at the specs, those in red are non-photographic features.

Actually, ISO range and AF sensitivity are both photographic features. And if one shoots jpeg, DIGIC processor makes a difference too (particularly with auto CA and distortion corrections). :)

What I want to find out is the dynamic range of the new sensor, the HDR capability, panoramic aids, focusing screen replacements, etc. I also found it strange that since the target market is travellers, then why a built-in flash is not included?

I am quite certain there will be no improvement to the sensor dynamic range; maybe I'm too jaded with disappointments about Canon sensors one generation after another.

I much prefer replaceable focusing screens (5D2, 60D etc) to transmissive LCD (5D3, 7D etc) in the viewfinder.

Don't care about flash because I don't use it in my travels.

I find it is more of a horizontal replacement camera rather than an upgrade.

It'll be bizzare for anyone to 'upgrade' their 5D2 for a 6D unless it's for the small size and reduced weight.

Traveling alone or w family? I am a family man. Pop up flash is a must. I own a 580ex2, but will be troublesome to mount shoot.... Dismantle put inside bag... Some countries not safe to expose your " expensive" gears.
DSLR w pop-up flash is essential.
Backlighting n lowlight situation.
No flash just up exposure compensation will over expose the background n bring out noise.

Think for dr need to wait for 2013 body to see improvement...

I think If u hv 5D2 most likely will not upgrade.....

What's the big deal about the articulating screen? Some swear by it and some people have no use for it. If 6D doesn't have it, so be it. There are other cameras to choose from.

OMG.... then my 1Ds III how ??? no video no articulating LCD, no pop-up flash and no IS ... die la

For those countries you should not even bring/expose your dslr if you are worried about theft, flash or no flash.

Sorry lor. Obviously must now be an obsolete model that cannot get any of the shots that a modern camera is "mandatory" for. ;-)

I believe in proper disposal. give to me, I'll see to it that it is properly recycled

OMG..LOL wonder what he would do..let lions chew on it? Then let it soak in acidic water? Then soak it in liquid nitrogen n drop it down from a cliff..n later he will still be able to shoot it only with the bare frame with buttons...O_O..the camera belongs to the terminator

Lion seems a good choice. We've always know wildlife photogs who shoot close up of lions using 50mm etc use a cheap body and remote control the camera's "buggy" from afar.. Cos they don't want to risk their pro bodies. Should use the 1DsIII and see if it can withstand a lion. Ultimate test of durability
