everyone is dumping 5Dmk2
6D is seems to be superior if its using new digic5+ due to better noise control as compared to digic4
and its smaller and lighter which some ppl may preferred
5D is beefier and hands that are not very big will find it not as good to grab
but is it really an upgrade?
time tells.
By the time if verdict 6d is better, BnS will hv soooooooooo many 5Dmk2 that those late seller will find it difficult to sell off.

Why do u say that folks really dumping 5d2 for 6d - are they not getting the 5d3?

Ok, someone just need to change the subtitle a little bit.:)
Nikon to Canon, D800 to 5Diii and D600 to 6D.

i nv meant change to 6D
just that ppl are dumping 5Dmk2 for either 6D or Mk3.
But this phenomenon just appear recently
so i guess is most either going for 6D or for mk3 or even range finder or even Lunar?
mirrorless?
:/

As a farm.... they are very good in milking....

I think they obviously has developed the sensor for a while since, and only been playing the waiting game to see when to launch the sensor......

Why I feel so???? What type of testing could they have done on the lens if they did not have a very good sensor to test on???

So obviously....... they had the sensor then, and to ensure that the new range of lens were good enough for the senor and compatible...... and that the lens did not get outdone by the sensor and match well with the lens...... noticed a lot of new lens launched recently too...

Just my thought on the new sensor........ should be worth waiting for......

I doubt the very best to test their lenses are their own cameras and sensors. They have much higher equipment for that purpose.

im intend to upgrade to full-frame camera such as 5DMKIII. Now think better wait and see this new 6D performance 1st.

Same here.....I have the 60D but am still loving it because of the swivel screen for the videos and off-angle shoots.

I wanted a full frame with swivel screen , but it seems only Sony has it.

Can't Canon make that out of mag alloy too?

GPS is nice to have, but to trash the top cover for plastic instead of magnesium alloy to get GPS to work is a waste. In terms of robustness, the 6D is worse off then the 7D.

Do you think the polycarbonate case will ever crack? Most probably not.

Reviewer says it has a plasticky feel on the 6D body. I wonder how he judge the degree of plasticky. Anyway, if final production units have same body as 7D, I would be delighted.

Some how I doubt that 6D body is as solid as 7D..... but let's wait n see......

i think i will mull over much between the 5DII and the 6D ..

Some quick updates from Photokina

The 6D does feel significantly lighter than the 5D3, somewhat plastic-y as some other reviews have mentioned, similar to what the 60D feels like I guess.

What's interesting was this dark cave set up where you could try the 6D mounted with a 50mm f/1.4 in extreme low light.

Compared to the 5D3, the 6D does seem to perform marginally better than 5D3 despite the latter having much more AF points. Using just centre AF point on both cameras, the 5D3 struggled to focus in the extreme lowlight, taking 2 or 3 tries before it finally managed to acquire focus. On the other hand, the 6D manages with less effort, hunting slightly before snapping into focus on the 1st try. This was at -3EV, barely able to see what you're shooting at this light level.

ironically I jumped from 5d2 to d800. I'm a hobbyists. it served me well for a couple of years, somehow decided it's time to go for higher resolution of d800.

I realised the 5d2 is going for $22** @ technogadgets... if 6d's iso performance & af proves to be not better than 5d2, it's a no brainer :)

I think 6D AF will definitely be better than 5D2. Willing to bet high ISO will be better too. Not forgetting the smaller form factor and lower weight which is a big plus for travel. Gps n wifi are debatable extras that will add a couple of hundred bucks to the price though.

but if lets just say 5dmk3 vs 6d?
AF better for 6d, but wld u choose 6d over 5dmk3?
hmm....
i m trying to ans that qn..

The 6D is getting more intriguing as I think and read more on it... a couple points:

- Hip level street shooting should be vastly simplified using EOS Remote. I imagine the scenario where you strap your 6D snug to your body and walk around, taking shots far and near when people around were thinking all the time you are playing with your hp. You could hook it up with a third party battery pack in your bag and run Wi-Fi throughout the day to minimize changing batteries.
- Mentions of AF at -3EV could also indicate that AF at lighting levels -2EV, -1EV, etc would be superior to other bodies at these same levels.

Kinda makes street photography pointless

to me, it will be bec of $ (Price of 6d to be confirmed) but 5DMK3 already selling abt 4k.
Futhermore, bec of the weight that will make me to consider 6D over 5DMK3.
