Arsenal Football Club - The Gunner's Thread 3

sadly almost half the squad is injury prone. even the GK seems to get injured more often than usual. better still, every year someone must break their leg or something... damn depressing...

 sometimes I wonder if the "injury prone" is link to our players young age. Their bones and muscles not tough enough yet compared to a players in his prime age (26 to 30). Look at Drogba, or J.Terry...they were so strong. So in 2 to 3 years time, our injury list should reduce  ?

Let's hope Drogba will never score against us anymore - he will stop at the unlucky 13 ;).

The Alex bullet shot was unstoppable. At first, I blamed Arshavin for not closing the gap when Malouda moved away from the wall just before Alex shoot. But after seeing it again, the ball could have smashed Arshavin face. It was the only wise thing Arshavin did all night. Otherwise, we would have added another casualty to the injury list :bsmilie:

BTW, anyone who haven't seen Pirlo (AC Milan) goal last night should take a look :

How I wish we have someone who can strike the ball this way ;p

I was also thinking what might happen if the ball struck one of the people in the wall instead of (amazingly) going through that small gap. Think the defender will concuss.

This goal also not bad

let just face it, even if wenger have a full squad at his disposal against chelsea, i believe scoring against that water tight defense will still be a big problem.

Aiyah, as you said, you never watched the match.

There were definitely scoring chances for Arsenal, not saying that Chelsea wouldn't have won in the end, since its a "what if", "could have been" argument, wouldn't dwell too much on it.

What I feel is that we should not feel beat up for not beating the tough teams like Chelsea, we really have to take the points against the other teams.

i thought drogba's goal was kinda lucky.

drogba will always score against arsenal even if he doesn't score, his other team mates also will help him out.
i fear that man city will be effective against arsenal as well.

time for arsenal to bounce back! i'm going for 2-0 victory!

It's a 2-1 gritty win. But it's still precious 3 points in the bag.

Even as an arsenal supporter, I must admit that I felt that Chamakh "dived" to win the penalty.

Good news was that Man U and Chelski dropped points this weekend. :D

Fully agreed. Not even the "dive" was elaborated, the passes in front of the goal area were very much over elaborated, as the commentator had put it.

i believe Chamakh was looking for contact, from the replay angle, seems like there was some contact.
think he should just learn from AA, take a potshot asap, rather than trying to draw a foul.
apart from young jack, everyone else seems intent on passing the ball into the back of the net.

as for diaby, his passing has really got to improve.
for eboue, he should learn to head the ball forward and not backwards, putting the keeper under pressure.

very scrappy win.

i thought wilshere was my man of the man until that reckless tackle. last year we had ramsey. this year we have wilshere coming of age. how i wish one of our reserve keeper start to show some class too...

Today's soccer news!

'Birmingham hit out at Arsenal players' conduct'

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=833402&sec=england&cc=4716

Find it so hypocritical of Birmingham to accuse Arsenal of violent play when they themselves defended their own players after Eduardo's ankle breaking challenge few years ago!
So when their players tackle and break other players it is acceptable, but if the same happens to their players, oh they are violent, not acceptable!

At least Wenger and even Wilshere is man enough to admit the tackle was bad and deserved the red card.

just dunno what to say abt arshavin... on his day he win the game for the team other days he just go abt really frustrating the fans with very indifferent display. Considering he didn't play in the world cup finals, i would have expected him to be bit sharper like perhaps Bebertov is for Man U.

man city vs arsenal. damn exciting after 1st half.
boyata sent off 5th min.
nasri scored.
fabregas missed penalty!

a bit lucky in the fact that man city got a man sent off early. but at least we capitalize on it.
