18-250 is a good walk around lens, it is faster than the usual tamron becos it has lesser blades to handle.

How does having fewer blades make the lens faster? I am assuming diaphragm blades that change the aperture size...

not sure if it is appropriate to ask here, I am heading to Sans Francisco this coming June and was wondering if the 1870 kit lens suffice as a walk around lens for street, landscape (golden gate bridge!) and portrait shoots. I will probably bring this lens alone unless advised otherwise. :)

Actually, the lens is adequate for the task.

can check it out at http://www.dyxum.com/reviews/lenses/reviews.asp?IDLens=60

compare to beercan 70-210

i guess pro will be lighter, compact and cheaper
con will definitely be the minium focus distance of 1.9m

beercan seem to be a better zoom range ... if u don mind the minium focus distance its worth to get it ...

hi bros, need some advice. just bought a SAL28F2.8 from a bro here. Condition is 10, no scratches and no fungus inside aperture blades opening. However, when I took test shots(diff aperture values) at marina sq starbucks and in my room(lights on), I put on pc and see - some shots werent tt sharp while others had abit ghosting effect of blur. Can ask if any probs with the lens or issit the low light situation? All shots taken without flash.

What's the mode you were using? P/A/S/M? And what was the shutter speed for each apertures? If the speed is slow (>1")and you were using handheld then my guess is most likely it's caused by the movement of your hand:)
