Which walk around lens do you own?

I felt the Minolta 50mm to be a little too long for crop camera. I think for A900 it will make a better walkaround. Perhaps the 28mm Minolta or Sigma 30mm gives a wider picture. Anyway, I am waiting for my CZ16-80 which is due to arrive in a week to replace the 18-70kitlens.

Thanks for the advice.

After reading through, I narrow down to 2 lens

Tamron 17-50 F2.8 - $??
Sony 50mm F1.4 - $450

Will getting the Tamron be more economical for general purpose? Suppose I compensate with lesser aperture compared to Sony 1.4

Still in big dilema for a CNY preparation purchase.....

tamron 17-50 f/2.8 is about $600+-
price really varies from shop to shop... so get quotes 1st

f/2.8 isn't really enough for low light, but of course its better than your kit lens.
cant compare a prime lens with a zoom really, the 50mm should give a sharper image and way smoother bokeh~
if buyin the tamron, be sure to check for back/front focus and get a sharp copy~ :D
cos sending a tamron for servicing is gona take ahwhile as they might send it back to japan or somethin :bsmilie:

I'd say go still for the Tamron for the versatility

i m looking for my next walk about lens to replace the kit 18-70mm. I also have the 75-300mm.

I am considering between the

1. 18-250mm ($759)
2. 16-105mm ($759)
3. 18-200mm ($999)
4. CZ 16-80 ($1099)

Any comments on the above lens?

no.1 if u dont want to have to change lenses, and have a slight improvement in IQ compared to the kit lens.
no.4 if u want sharper pics, wider 16mm and better color than ur current kit lens~

not too sure about the sigma 18-200, why not go for the sony/tamron 18-250mm? its a really sharp lens for the incredible zoom range.

just got a used tamron 28-200mm
should be my walk-about lens for now while i aim for 28-300mm or 18-250mm...
