About to be hit by BBB...

currently using KM 50mm F1.7 RS for a walkabout...i'd like something wider not necessarily a prime lens..

eyeing on these few..

CZ 16-80
Tamron 17-50 F2.8
Sigma 18-50 F2.8

which ones do u guys recommend?I shoot mostly street and the occasional landscape..Colour vibrancy is important for me..

i do see the advantage of getting the tamrons and sigma though in that i can get a tripod and/or flash as the CZ comes with a premium...

If colour vibrancy is most important, then discount the Sigma. It tends to have a yellow cast and colors tend to be flat...

yeah...read a good review on the tamron at photozone.de too...leaves me more cash for my tripod and/or a flash...think i'll take a pass on the CZ....for now..heh..i need to build up on my camera..and i think the tripod and flash would be a more useful set of tools for it for now...

Ah, John 3:16 usually won't stock A mount stuff - maybe u can check with AP again, or try Orient Photo, which is 6 floors up. :)

certainly! if you already have in mind the kind of photos you want to make and most importantly - the strength to carry around.

even with a new distro, 'A' mount tamron lens are still hard to get...

Minolta 28-135mm f4 for me.

Yes, the MFD is a snag but it's never really been an issue for me.
I've bought the lens new in the 80's and I guess I'm just used to it and the advantages far outweigh any slight disadvantage.
The IQ is breathtaking, the AF is lightning fast (A700) due to the back element focus design and although some find the weight to be a drawback, I don't.
I'm looking forward to using it on the A900 when I save up enough money.

Hi

Currently I'm running around with Kit lens on my A300, but kind of suffer at low-light places. Any recommendation on which lens I should get next?

Hey Thanks for the advice.

Happen to saw one Minolta 50 F1.7 going for $240... will it be worth getting 2nd hand compared to first hand at 500plus?

Considering that its one of the recommended lens to have for walk about?
