What is your favourite DOMKE bag?

sure can but not mounted. Previously I have my F3X to carry
1) 30D + Grip with 24-105 mounted
2) 70-200f4L
3) 580EX
4) LS
No problem.. but a little tight though. J3 is bigger but the inserts are slightly different. There are 2 flags which divide the J3 into 4 sections. So each section for
a) body
b) flash
c) 17-40
d) 70-200
Just nice ;)

Can the 2 flags be removed..?;p

any idea where i can get the domke padded inserts? does CP have them? cos i don't remember seeing any around the last time i went there.

or are there any other alternatives for inserts? frankly, the domke ones are quite cheapo and not very worth the money.

Hi buddy,

Sorry to join the party late...

Am thinking of buying the F2.

Could you help me with the following please, thank you?

(a) Can the F2 fit a D200+17-35mm (mounted), a 50mm plus and 85mm + flash... comfortably?

(b) May I ask what made you switch from the F2 to a J2?
Was it because it's more suitable for digital (pockets for memory cards, etc), weather-proof or something else?

Appreciate your help or anyone. Thank you. :)

if there was a black canvas J2 would be best

i had the F2 (RIP)
and now using a J2

In the quest of finding that one ultimate camera bag which can also accommodate a 12" wide-screen laptop, I come across the J-803 but wonder if anyone can share their experience using it? Actually prefer a backpack because it is far less taxing on the shoulder but most of the camera-cum-laptop backpacks are so bulky at the bottom that they sometimes make maneuvering in crowd difficult and looks awkward as well.

Plan to put in the J-803:
D80 + 18-200
12-24
SB800
12" Laptop
Book or magazine
Other miscellaneous items such as wallet, key pouch etc.

Any bros have better suggestions for the above setup?

a) yes with lots of room to spare
1 main compartment, 2 front pockets, 2 side pockets, 1 back pocket and 1 top pocket.
main compartment can fit everything you have already

b) my F2 was more than 10 years old and RIP already
the J2 is slightly taller than the F2
and a little bit more water resistant (ballistic nylon)

but my worn out F2 looked really great
I might just buy another F series from HK

my J2 can squeeze my 15" powerbook in as well
but i am also looking for something smaller
maybe I'll DIY one and add in padded inserts

I love the F series too... esp the Sand one  but the only thing is that I feel that the J series have better paddings and internal material less rough... feels more protected and comfortable for my lens and body :bsmilie:

the good thing about canvas is that it hugs your equipment when you carry the bag

Have the F2 which last me for 10 years. Now using a J1 for almost 2 years.

I lov DOMKE cos it really last.

Bro, can you explain??? Hug the equipment???

because the material is softer, when you carry the bag the material will wrap around your equipment and hold it.

Anyone has a better explanation?

ok from domke

Canvas, for a classic look and feel:
If your tastes lean towards the traditional and understated, then all-natural canvas is probably for you. Soft, supple, heavyweight cotton canvas molds around its contents, hugs your body, and has a smooth texture that's friendly to both equipment and clothing. The fabric is naturally water-resistant, and we add a repellent treatment in the dying process for an extra measure of protection. Still, canvas is a "breathable" fabric, so the air in your Domke Bag stays dry even in the most humid environments. Finally, canvas has a character all its own; as your Domke Bag ages, it softens and wears like a favorite pair of jeans. And new or old, a canvas Domke is the ultimate in discretion - the bag that doesn't shout "cameras!"

Bro... So it means you will feel safer lugging your stuffs around, and if anyone pull, etc... you can feel it???

it means that the bag will hold on to your equipment
and if you decide to run you will know that your equipment will not bump around inside the bag

I would prefer J series.. though looks boxy, I feel better cushioning even in the side pockets. I can now slip a 50mm into the side pockets and feel it is well protected
