Another question,

So do you think I will need the shoulder pad for F-3? Thought of ordering it together to save on shipping.

Thanks.

Do you foresee yourself carrying so much stuff for such a long time that your shoulders will hurt? If the answer is yes, get the shoulder pad. Otherwise, it's readily available in Singapore. Just go to either branch of Cathay Photo.

I don't know about you but I use my shoulder pad on F3X all the while :bsmilie: I think online purchase for shoulderpad is not very cheap as compared to Cathay... so you have to do your maths :) How much are you paying for your F3X online?

Is this the shoulderstrap we are talking about? US$12 online. F-3X is ~US$96. Shipping to Canada is ~US$10. For me this is the only way to get them; no access to Cathay, MScolor etc.

Oh! You're not in Singapore. Hahaha. I guess there's no choice then. US$12 seems like a good price to pay. I'd suggest ordering it together with the F-3X, to save on shipping.

And yes, that's the strap.

F-3X at US$96 not a bad deal. I'd checked amazon.. the F-3X cost about US$130 after local (to another US address) shipment  which is almost S$200.. I thought of getting my colleague to pick up for me when he goes US next month.. but look like not cheap that way

Try this ebay store. One CSer got his J3 from there IIRC.

F3X in e-bay US$95.50 + US postal local US$9.50 = US$105 = app S$16x... hmmm..

Just joined the club...a colleague was getting rid of his bags....got a J1 and F2 from him for a song...he also got rid of a Billingham (another colleague grabbed it)...with 1D2 and 28-300 in the J1....think I need to add a pad soon..was using crumpler, but find the C too heavy on their own, still have a Kata R102 for longer trips....but must say I like the simple but thoughtful design of these bags.

F-802 with modified strap. The ultimate messenger bag for whatever you want to carry (camera, laptop, paperwork, lunch..)  mine's a black one, I can even carry it into work and nobody thinks twice, it looks that good.

I removed the stock Domke strap. Tried the Post Office Pad but did not find it as comfortable as the Optech straps I'm used to (I have one on every camera). Instead I bought the Optech Bag Strap, it so happens that the strap's width is exactly the same as the Domke eyelets for the strap (not talking about the steel snaphooks at the side). My favorite configuration. Can't live without it!

I've put 18 pounds in this setup and carried it halfway round the world. My shoulders are tired.. but it could be a lot worse :D

Welcome to the club, buddy :) I was previously a Crumple 7 mil owner too and I must say it is too heavy on its own though having great paddings

For my stocky frame, the J1 does not look too bulky, but read on the thread that a mounted 70-200 zoom can be accomodated on J1 or similar sized range, how is this done? I need to remove the inserts to put in the mounted 28-300L....

Yes. I did that on a J2. Removed all inserts and put my 30D mounted with 70-200f2.8IS. While place my 580EX on one side of the side pockets and a 50mm on another side pocket.

((=

i bought 2 for my friends, and a F2 for myself. 180+...heh heh heh

yeah HK is cheap... I think Tin Cheung got very good deals for Domke

Will the J-3 be able to store:
-a 30D with grip
-70-200f4L
-17-40f4L, and
-430EX..?

thinking of getting one;)

sure can but not mounted. Previously I have my F3X to carry
1) 30D + Grip with 24-105 mounted
2) 70-200f4L
3) 580EX
4) LS
No problem.. but a little tight though. J3 is bigger but the inserts are slightly different. There are 2 flags which divide the J3 into 4 sections. So each section for
a) body
b) flash
c) 17-40
d) 70-200
Just nice ;)

don't forget the side & front pockets
