What do you bring (photographic equipment) for travel

most impt is to bring ur eyes. Before you leave make a conscious checklist of the kind of pics u wanna take. If its landscape intensive, bring the tripod, ultrawide lens, ND grad, etc... if its a city and u want to take more of street then a normal lens is ok. If you go with the gear to take everything, u'll be prepared to take nothing. I went to Ho Chi Minh just wanting to take street shots and i brought a Nikon FE2, 50mm lens and a 105mm lens + alot of film (I thought if i got robbed at least its not my dslr hehe). I had the best time just being focused on the shots i wanted to take and didnt regret not bringing my other stuff.

Holy cow; that's a lot of gears! I just bring my Fuji sf100s with a zoom from 28-400mm; and a compact camera. I leave my Raynox and flash at home. Travelling man...

On holiday, besides the benro A350ex tripod/484rc2, CPL, R72 and a PnS (for my wife), either E520+twin kit lenses or Canon 450D+Tamron 18-270+EF 50 f/1.8. Flash is too bulky. Next round must remember to bring GND/ND filters.

on my last trip to vietnam..i A330 with kit lens SAL1855 and 50F1.8. 8gb card. i left my tripod in the hotel...too troublesome.

I never complain about the weight of my gear.. It's usually my wife... hahaha

On my recent trip all i brought was:
Voigtlander Bessa R3M, Nokton 40F1.4 and about 5rolls of film.
Was fun though.

Canon 20D
EFS 18-55 IS
EF 50 f/1.4
EF 70-200 f/4L
Hoya CPL filter
Hoya UV filter
Lenspen (forgot what brand, but they all seem to have same OEM)
Benro tripod + ballhead

6) Nikon Nikkor 50mm f1.4 with UV filter
7) Giotto 9242 tripod with cullman ballhead

this January, I bring :
5D (without grip), 17-40, 50mm 1.4 inside a Lowepro Rezo 190AW ------- honestly, I really enjoy this one rather than full package inside a backpack ^_^

My upcoming NZ trip

Sigma 12-24mm
Canon 24mmL
Canon 135mmL
Tiltshift Adapted Mamiya 24mm FE, 35mm, 55mm ,

( and another really big lens, but still in deliberating process )

i figure i will leave most of them in the car and grab them as needed for the stop and shoot landscape shots.

For streets and walkabout, the 1st 3 will do.

Wow, u brought 2 systems along~ And look at the weight..Kudos..*Salute*:bsmilie:

i used to bring a wide angle, mid range of 17-55 and 80-200 2.8 for travel. thinking can use for all situations. but slowly i noticed i only used one of the lens most of the time. so now travel, just bring a d300s and 50mm will do :D

lighweight and i don't feel strain after the end of the day

Last Trip
Wide = 17 -35
Tele = 70 -200
Body = D3
Others = Tripod, OTG (on the go for backup of CF cards)

Upcoming Trip
Wide = D3 + 17 -35
Tele = D3 + 70 -200 + TC20
Others = Tripod, OTG (on the go for backup of CF cards)

So much for travelling light :rolleyes:

It was not a vacation actually,more a work trip, but I did get some great pictures, to me if you really want to shoot, what is a little more weight, if you can take it.....at the same time it help burn some calories you tend to consume on trips. Usually its other people who seemed to have problem with what I am carrying....
