Making the effort doen't mean that one has to use such strong languages and ignore the feelings of the article-writer, let alone so many middle-aged ppl here. That is the reason why she's gun down.
I do agree that she's got the courage, but still, her arrogance of being an 'elite' definitely is not a cup of tea for thousands, if not millions in Singapore.

She don't have the life experience to offer a balanced viewpoint of how difficult it is to support a family in Singapore, the job situation and what to expect when a person has been retrenched, the anxiety whether they are able to get another same paying job, though the statistics will show that they got re-employed within some months but at same paying salary? fat chance.scramblur11 said:

Well said. This is exactly what we all are trying to drive at, and I hope this will teach her (considered herself an elite) a very good lesson to think before she write; definitely a pre-requisite of an elite. We don't write this way if we don't have the experience, do we?

The rjc girl should have been more sensitive with her choice of language. Ironically she's from an elite school.:nono:
And I hope the govt can further look into the issue and hear even more from the common man on the street.:light:

She gets credit for thinking about the issue, but deserves the flame for tactlessness and having no heart for not putting herself in the shoes of someone else. Her dad deserves the flame, for half hearted defense for the daughter. Why defend her? Let her fall. Otherwise she will never learn.

Derek, think regional. You are more valuable than you think. Singapore is small, the world is big. If you don't learn to get out of your comfort zone, you will never have a breakthrough.

it may just sound like a JC vs Poly (the never ending comparison) the Elites vs the Dropouts... its just plain lucky that Derek wasn't from ITE, else i can just see how far it would go... but true enuff, look around... i've just felt it, people in express stream look down on normal stream (happen to me), ppl who goes poly then look down by ppl in JC (happen to me too), the point is, at least i also get my degree... just took a longer time... while enjoying every part of it... slowly...
the so called elites, i mean, end of the day, if u ask me, if they take up engineering, would they know how to tighten a screw or install a 3-pin plug as compared to a poly student? cos all talk are just plain cheap... but they know how to think... and everybody have their own field of specialities, not just that when your mom/dad is a MP, then say, hey there is like x number of MP, hence u are a elite (minority complex), so elite girl the dad calls, elite girl elite = elite... are u elite? nope, not proven until you are... 18 year old in RJC = elite? hmm... did i miss something? hopefully not...
end of the day, if the parents can't teach a kid manners, the society will teach, now is the time to reflect... i doubt the teachers even dare to teach her any... just let the society do the beating... hope she does reflect... *hope i get my CPF money when i am old... me no elite, and neither me got money* *continue drive taxi...
