Thinking of SB 900? or Just got SB900? - SB 900 Discussion

bounced flash, notice the strong sunlight from behind the screen
and the exposure balance of the flash with the sunlight

coupled with the D700, i must say that this is one smart flash/camera team

should try it with older cameras and see if it is just as good

does the sb900 gives an audible warning if it overheats?

i linked it to quantum turbo last weekend and fired (at 1/4 and 1/8 power) throughout the whole day, from 10am to about 8pm.

i was worried about it overheating because i was blasting music in the background.:embrass:

I bought a SB-900 yesterday .... Whahahaha ... ;p

Was in John 316 look see look see and wasn't planning to buy.
Saw a fellow in the shop trying his hands on the SB900 and borrowed to touch touch ... After coming out from the shop, I had a good time telling how interesting fascinating the flash until I became damn gian and then went back to buy one myself .. LOL :sweat:

FYI... GF LS universal owners .... the shade doesn't sits well on a Sb900 .... althought you can still shove it in.

how long did you have to wait before it could fire again?
did u have a spare?
hope it didnt spoil your event shoot.

it did not as i have another camera on with sb800 on it.

It's amazing how such thing always happen when you have to shoot something crucial.

It took the sb900 a good 3 to 5 mins to resume operation.

That's is with the termal cut off on.

i have not tried with it turned off. I'm interested to know if with it turned off, will sb900 keep firing even when the temperature is too hot.

Anyone knows if there are any features on the SB900 that would not be able to work on the D80? Came across somwehere that the auto WB detection are only designed to work with the D700 and D3. Is that true? Any other features that wont work?

SB900 is supposed to use the new SD9A batt pack. SD8A is prob not going to work.
