Well, the bus driver did claim that he told them why he had to keep the card.
Besides, there were other witnesses on the bus that said the driver did nothing to provoke the boy. And instead, the boy despite being restrained by 2 other passengers, kept on confronting the driver until he was told the police had been notified.

So in my mind, boy kept acting like a jerk until told that police was coming. Then he goes and calls the dad for rescue and starts crying. This is not being a bully (and a coward) meh? :think:

He is a coward, liar and a bully - beating up an old bus driver and shows no remorse and still want to tell lies to try to hide his evil and cruel actions.

There were many witnesses - I hope they will come forward to testify on what actually happened and not have him tell his lies and get away from punishment because of his age and because he comes from Hwa Chong.

I notice that the story did not appear in the Straits Times - was it because it is old news or was pressure brought to bear not to print, so that the population that does not read the New Paper, but reads the ST are kept in the dark???

If so, very bad precedent as it means that justice is unequal and flawed in our little red dot.

If he had come from XXX Government High School, it may have been a different story.

I am very amused by the boy's media statement. According to Lian He Zao Bao, he claimed his "punching" are merely accidents, slapping at the driver with no ill-treats. Wow, if thats the case, the guy who pin down the boy is acting extra then.....

I heard fighting with gangs or outside sch compond will results in caning in front of assembly, or maybe facing being expelled.

Lets wait and see how the elite JC reacts.

I'm interested to know. To me, either party could be the bully until the facts are out.

Simple. Who threw the first punch? Even if the driver was cursing/scolding the student like an old school drill sergeant, there's still no valid reason to get violent. If the student felt he was being wronged, wouldn't the smart move be to lodge a formal complaint? Better yet, record the driver's actions and post it on YouTube.

In addition, his actions after being pulled back by the other passengers indicate that its not just a simple matter of him losing his cool.

I could accept that his initial punch was made in the heat of the moment but after the student was pulled back by the passengers and talked to, the student still went back and slapped the driver. Maybe the student tripped and his hand "accidentally" fell across the driver's face? I seriously doubt so - I think its more likely he wanted to punch the driver into submission.

And the student persisted in arguing with the driver until the senior traffic inspector came and told him that the police had been informed. It was only at this point that the student's behavior changed.

Of course, my opinion is totally reliant on the news article. Could the article be inaccurate? Yes, its possible. Could the article be sensationalized? Possibility too.

However until there's more creditable information. My opinion remains as such.

You may said that's not fair but heck, the world is an inherently unfair place.

Just my 2 cents.

As long as the person lay hands , then by law, he is at fault.

No amt of excuse shld be given for a lad who beat up an old man (who did not hit him in the first place) , even if the old man is a bully.
