sure but i need lenses to do the test

anyone?

missing tokina 16-50 f2.8
missing the newer sigma 18-50
how about the rest of the kit lenses

one test for non f2.8 and test for the f2.8 lenses

btw all test images are straight out of camera (nikon D80), just resize and add description text
no PP was done.

Shots taken using Aperture priority @ f8 handheld with focus at the same target

I just bought it from Cathay Photo with price of S$720 two days ago. I tried Sigma 17-50, Tokina 16-50 and Tamron17-50. Sigma is not sharp (wanted to buy Sigma), Tokina's color was soft that's why I took Tamron. I do not know how to attach picture here.:dunno:

that's rather expensive. i thought most shops were selling it in the $600++ range?

I got mind around $680 from MS when it first came out towards the end of last year..not inclusive of filters tho...

I just bought my Tamron from Lords last week and yet to test it out fully. Maybe my tonight company dinner I will test it out about this over expose problem with flash. It took me 3 samples to find a sharp one and all their photo look ok with built in flash from my D200.

My Tamron 17-50 perform great only 2 bad points. First not enough reach, wish it was 17-70/2.8 like Tamron 28-105/2.8. Second flash SB600 over expose, I need to -1 stop to balance it at close range around 3 meters after 5 meters ok.

I wish it's a 16-85mm f/2.8 ;p

But I find it's not very good at focusing when subject has a high contrast background.

Hi friends,
based on the article, the over-exposed seems confined to TTL-BL only. And if the problem is really due to the lens feeding incorrect focus lenght to the cmaera, then the overexposed should be consistence throughout the same TTL-BL mode. You all may want to try it out. hope some kind so will test it out and provide your feedback/confirmation.

heard that temron 17-50 f2.8 has pretty bad QC lately ah?

wanna buy D80 body with it.. but i guess i shall hold my urge.

I was really concern with Tamron over exposure when using TTL-BL....

So I bought the SB800 & the Tamron together, tested a couple of flash shots in the shop and it all turns out just FINE :)

After I got it home, I test many shots and the are will very well exposed. So I would consider myself very lucky :)

Untill, I keep my finger Xross;)

I had the same problem with sigma 18-50 f2.8 using D70/200. At certain focal len (35-45mm), the exposure would be under-expose for 2/3 stop. So pis off with this problem that I sold it off and get nikon 17-55. Problem solve, but a hole in my wallet.

Been using this lens since early launch. Had use it intensively with flash and happy with it...will never know peoples are facing this overexpose problem if I never read this thread.

U have photo to show?

Cropped and at 50%.Dont mind the quality

I recently got the Canon mount version of this lens. But compared to a friend's Nikon mount, mine seems awfully louder (focusing) than his.

Anyone has noticed this? Or is his just a imperfect copy? I assume mine is the okay one cos everyone's complaining abt this lens' noisy focusing. His is nearly silent.
