[SunChasersSG] - sunrise outing, Lwr Seletar, 10Jul

Bro... I really envy the wide angle you got... No wonder you squat there so long don't want to give up position :)
I find the saturation of the yellow and red a bit too strong around the bright sun area.
Not sure it's your processing, or my monitor, or my tired eyes.
Anybody else concur or disagree?

Hay thanks bro..

Too saturated? I never adjusted any saturation levels sia.. only vibrancy.. looks fine to me leh.. see wat others say.. *excited*

The 1st one horizon is senget, but EVER so slightly...
But overall, a really nice series.
You should dig out the photos you first took at the Newbies Outing at Esplanade rooftop, and compare. I think you have improved tremendously! DEFINITELY qualified to teach newbies...

my favourite shot, principally because of the colour tone, is #3.

Bro, I really really really really really like this one...! I think I'm a fan of purplish and warm tones. You've converted me

That dull shade of purple is starting to become my signature look already... see these:

I was there as well today :) as I could not fall asleep. Noticed a large group (probably you guys) there, but did not managed to talk to anyone from my lone position. I rushed off at about 7.15 for another photo outing. Would have been a good chance to meet some of the CS folks in person (another time perhaps) ;)

Hope its ok to post in this thread.

BTW, many nice shots posted.

I find that the sharpening was done a bit too aggressively in these 2 photos. Did you use unsharp mask feature? Be careful not to be overzealous with the slider. Sharp until eyes pain, if you know what I mean.

The foreground in #1 (rocks) are cut off from the jetty by the water, in your composition. So somehow the photo looks incomplete. The eyes follow the shoreline, then... ooops, gone out of the photo. Me and NNB arrived early to do advance party recce. We looked at the shoreline and concluded that this wasn't the ideal place to shoot from.

Purple ... hmmmm. You turning into Barney for the little devil that is akan datang???

yup that's why I stated that YOU have converted me!

One thing though, the purple have to be very very very subtle. Very easy to go off the charts.

How do I add my purple in? If you use Lightroom it is easy, pull the tint slider to the right a little, and you will see the purple come in. But the purple will be quite bright and very artificial. Next you push your WB temperature to the right also (warmer). That combined, and adjusted, will give you that slight purple tint, but yet, nice warm light details.

For some unknown reason, I really hate Barney... Don't know why. :dunno:

Wah lau eh.. lidat newbie meh... Swee liao lar..eh sai zor senior liao tis kinda standard :)

I second that. Mr & Mrs Scubagolfer has come a long way and is now producing consistently good images. The only thing lacking in this series is bringing down the exposure of the sky. This is where GND comes in, the real filter ones, or the PP ones in Lightroom/PS.

i am also a fan of purplish tones.. but sometimes felt is a little surreal and unnatural, tats why still refrain from too much messing ard with tint... But urs looking gd leh.. i will start my own collection soon soon~!!

Kamsia 3 wise men .... DD, ZCA n NNB :)

Thanks brother~~!!

Where are u sia~!! so hoping u will come... :(

Have to apologise to you and the rest man :embrass:
but I had to attend to work and personal commitment.Wasn't able to squeeze in sunrise this time. It's been quite a while I wanted to do sunrise there.Missed this good opportunity to be with you guys. Looks like I'll be taking sunrise there alone :dunno:

thanks for the comments bro!
I do feel that my foreground lacks sufficient exposure, but I was having a hard time with the digital blending, because my bracketed shots had the darn boat moving from frame to frame. si beh irritating. So in the end this was a slightly compromised shot.
Next time I go there, I will go about 2 hours earlier, then swim out and anchor the boat with 5 cables so it can't b***** move AT ALL.
Also DD123 pointed out that my right jetty was cropped off. That was my fault :thumbsd:. Kinda distracted and so not fully concentrating on all the elements in the frame...

Yeah..that boat is kind of a spoiler where bracketted shots are concerned, especially when the waters are not calm...
lol! now that's an idea! btw congrats on your new body hehe

Maybe future outings will need a PA, Photographer's Assistant, whose job is to go into the water, and keep the boat still for the duration of the shoot! Hehehehe.

All right guys and gals, the next series of pictures are my submission for the outing this morning, I mean yesterday morning! Nearly 24 hours already.

The pictures are with minimal PP, as my PP kungfu is not as good as the rest, so you'll see the other shooters in the picture. Also, dare not go lower to the water, else my wheels, myself and my gear will all go into the water!

Think the theme should be clear by now, just different interpretation by different photographers :)

Enjoy!
