Yes, some are too soft. Using a Kit lens, so I'm practicing what I preach. Especially to newbies, that Kit lenses are still just as good. Just need to know how to work it.

Thanks for the comment :)

Don't stay up too late!

Cheers!

i am also a fan of purplish tones.. but sometimes felt is a little surreal and unnatural, tats why still refrain from too much messing ard with tint... But urs looking gd leh.. i will start my own collection soon soon~!!
i think cannot have whole series purple, but every now and then slot a purplish one in and you can see all the "wow" responses if it's done properly! :)

good series of shots bro ding!
I understand the limitations of your exact spot. Kudos to you though, for daring to venture where no 2WD 'vehicle' has gone before! :)
MY favourites are #6 and #7... 'mood' kind of shots. #7 a bit minimalist already. CAn try to PP away all the unnecessary stuff and do what r00ki3 has been doing... :)

Ding, I have to stay up VERY late coz I've been working from midnight and I'm still in the office now

:-p eh but I thought Ding's #7 is good as it is la with the hazy horizon and all..very calm and moody..myabe just a bit of sharpening will do I think

I find that the sharpening was done a bit too aggressively in these 2 photos. Did you use unsharp mask feature? Be careful not to be overzealous with the slider. Sharp until eyes pain, if you know what I mean.

The foreground in #1 (rocks) are cut off from the jetty by the water, in your composition. So somehow the photo looks incomplete. The eyes follow the shoreline, then... ooops, gone out of the photo. Me and NNB arrived early to do advance party recce. We looked at the shoreline and concluded that this wasn't the ideal place to shoot from.

Thanks for the comments.
I played with the sharpening a bit, but preferred the final less real one :)
Yes, I know it was rather sharp and also found the sharpening unreal, but I was drawn to this un-realness in the unreal photo (in camera HDR). I find the boardwalk of the new jetty very dark because of the plants on the bank so sharpening would help lift it up slightly.
Maybe, a selective sharpening on the jetty would be better and add to isolate it from the other subjects (but certainly still unreal).

Yeah, for the rocks, it does cut off too suddenly. Sometimes, I wonder if I can roll the existing rocks into the water to form some sort of leading line to the jetty. :bsmilie:
Its more of a "from the other bank" view (though the rocks don't run down toward the jetty either). As it is, that is how the place is laid out and choosing to take out the rocks appear a bit bland to me.

Points certainly well taken, just my thoughts on the matter :)

Take care of yourself bro... If you go back to do a re, do let us know. Would be happy to accompany you. That's the thing about sun-chasing... it's always different every time...! :)

maybe if you move slightly to the right, and rotate your point of view a bit more to the left, so that you include the entire shoreline up to the jetty. So the shoreline is complete....

Could be. Give it a try next round. Certainly going lower into the rocks and turning helps a bit I figure. I don't think it will really complete the link due to the way the rocks are piled, the bank line runs and the messiness after the rocks, but it might give a better impression of linkage.

Composition thought, it might not add much, depending on the condition of the day. MHO. reflection of the sky running towards the sky and jetty works better this time. On a duller day with no interesting refection, running the shoreline might do better.

I was very unhappy with my DD#1 with the greenish tint in WB. Couldn't sleep and kept thinking about it and so I reprocessed #1 adjusted the WB and adjusted the curves, and I went to bed right after I did the export to PSD. Finished up this morning, add watermark and export to JPG and posted.

Here is the brand new version..

DD#5 - Re-processed #1.

Bro, your shot are almost wonderful and impressive..
Don't give yourself too much pressure and need to reach at top of the peak..:D

Remember Ding, previously you had told me following valuable statement:

"Great picture was taken by photographer who had good enough skill to handle the camera, not because of using what kind lens for shooting the image."

By the way, I like your #05 - Golden Light as well..

Bro, the biggest challenge often is ourselves. Must strive to be better mah. Because the more I looked at the 1st version the more "buay song" I get. Until last night, I re-did the processing, and went to bed (and forgot there is a GER-URG game...) Anyway, I will not forget about the final tonight. ;)

I'd have to say this is better interpretation than the original one.
Keep up the good work!

All right guys and gals, the next series of pictures are my submission for the outing this morning, I mean yesterday morning! Nearly 24 hours already.

The pictures are with minimal PP, as my PP kungfu is not as good as the rest, so you'll see the other shooters in the picture. Also, dare not go lower to the water, else my wheels, myself and my gear will all go into the water!

Bro your #1 is :thumbsup::thumbsup:

BTW bro, you didn't sleep for 24 hrs ar? cannot like that la. Must sleep. Then wake up at 2:30am to watch football.

True! that's why I really need to improve my skills and work around with what I own because I rely heavily on my kit lens for almost of my shots..till now my pocket is still so shallow even if I desire those 'premium' lenses. So BBB virus doesn't work on me ;)

Hey bro DD, i think i saw a spot of white thing on the top left section of your re-processed pic.
