The yellow light from the rising sun... and warmer white balance...? ;)

Thanks for the comment Adrian :) You have been teaching me a lot .. macro, black card techniques.

I guess i should either leave the MBS out or leave it uncropped.

#3 shot was a trial to check out the cam setting to blur the water coming out from the merlion mouth ... newbie lah

Yilin,

For #2, I guess your focus is on the sun which is you tried to place roughly following the rule of thirds. Great sky too! But the cropped MBS building doesn't really work for me, sorry.

The composition is quite good for #3, with the stairs providing a leading line to the merlion (although the building on the most right is slightly cropped). But I feel the contrast is lacking, not enough tone. Need more shadow and highlight :)

"Mimi" thanks for the pointers :)
Hope my compositional sense will gradually be improved by staking at the seniors photos lol

Hi Yilin, a couple of comments from me:

For merlionpark#1 - Well exposed and nice reflections but framed too tightly IMO. Give the MBS more 'space' to breathe. Structure on the left was also clipped slightly.

For merlionpark#2 - Nice colours and levelled horizon but I thought it wasn't a very good idea to chop the MBS into 1/3. :)

You're definitely improving as you move along. Just try to put more thoughts into the compositional aspect before pressing the shutter in the future. Just my 2 cents..Keep shooting!

This is because the Merlion juz brush her teeth and spray out the toothpaste bubbles..:bsmilie:

Updated those I know in red :)

those with the ??? until now have gone MIA.

Shoot already never post up "homework".... should ban from future outings?

Hmmm, maybe they are not too active in CS? :dunno: :bsmilie:

If not 'active', then will be difficult to claim the highly sought-after slots :)

I've noticed this with some of the previous outings as well.
People rush to claim some of the spots, then don't really participate in the learning process as stipulated by the organiser. Some shoot on their own then rush off and don't even bother to post up their photos.
This rather devalues the time that the more experienced photogs have volunteered (instead of going 'off the beaten path' in search of their own unique photos) for the purpose of sharing.

Actually it is my fault... I went over to the other side to shoot.. but no more space at the platform mah... :embrass:

Huh? No la... not you.
I'm talking about the entire process from the outing till the 'homework' thread.
I was venting about some 'newbies' who take up slots, turn up on the day, hide one corner, rush off after the outing, don't post 'homework'. Like that might as well shoot alone right?

I'm just venting some built-up frustration :) Haven't been following this thread super-closely. Referring more to other threads. Ya I know there are some who just accompany their significant other to the outings. That's fine too :)

You've got a point. Maybe they only 'active' in Gathering and Outing section

I feel your frustration. Perhaps they have a different agenda lor.

Some of them may be lack of confidence to show their work on here or don't know how to up-load the image..:dunno:

May be next time we try to emphasize them what they need to do after the outing.

Provide another 10-15min for the Q&A session before or after the shooting session..;)
