i do not take any offense at your post.

i am puzzled though, you are usually more cordial and objective. :(

i would also like to point out in passing that this is not kopitiam. there happens to be different sorts of decorum in different sections.

shouts back from far away..."the word is usually"...cont walking away.........

and who's gonna pay for the studio and model for the students to practice on?

It can be arranged

For example case scenrio:

Studio w Lighting: $50 an hour (please advise)
Model: $50 per hour
Mentor: $100 per hour

Organiser: $100 (fixed)

$200 is the fixed cost per hour.

$400 is the total cost for two hours

add $100 for Organiser fee

$500 divide by 10 participants = $50 per person.

Result = Better quality photos and you learn something new!

It can also be made into a package like 8 sessions for basic photography course etc to reduce fixed cost and offer discounts.

fyi u want quality professional model dun expect to pay 50 per hour. that's a FACT. and i sure as hell am not gonna pay for someone who has no real experience but thinks that they are a real model. your estimates i can tell u for a fact are WAY OFF.

I am sure there are experienced photographers in club snap who do own/share studios of their own (I have come across several famous photographers lurking around the forums). They can organise, plan and conduct the shoot, who knows, they can even do this on a part time basis!

For those who don't want to learn about photography, they can always go for TFCDS or hire a model. Organised shoots should be about learning and not goggling over models (which has disturbingly been the case). The function of organised shoots should be reinstilled as a learning platform.

And this is just an example of how the fees can be calculated, it is just a case scenario. Do not take it so seriously, I hope others can contribute ideas as well.

and why should a seasoned photog do it for charity and not make money off this? he's got expenses to cover such as rent and utilities. Do you see the fallacy of your own logic? you think a seasoned pro is gonna conduct a learning workshop without a goal of making a profit?

So the ratio becomes like 10 shooters to ONE model? Average time for each photographer to shoot is 6 mins??

10 to one is too much. realistically 6 is the max that should be there per session. issue also is alot of people who come for these forget its not meant to be a shooting session but a learning one and they keep firing their cams when they should either be waiting their turn or listening to the teacher.

and my point is you're calculating with no idea of what you're doing. $100 gross profit. that's hilarious. no business man let alone seasoned pro photog is gonna let a model make more $ than him from a workshop. Like that he might as well be the model himself.

Just how many "models" (sorry but I prefer to named them as "posers") wants a TFCD?? Typical "only consider TFCD if ideas are fresh blah blah blah" bullshits posted on EVERY self-declared-with-pte-ltd-experiences-posers' threads. Face it, just take a look at the service section and see how many similar threads asking for paid shoots.

Groups of 5 can be divided to take turns to shoot for 1h.

The next hour the mentor can discuss with them how to improve their photos etc.

Read carefully. I think you are getting the wrong idea.
