Sony NEX announced ...

There is something very wrong with that comparison. I have a GH1 and I know how it performs: Better than the G1, which is not the case here.

Maybe the tester uses default setting for all, and uses the jpeg files straight from the camera.

Whoa so cheap?? Considering that's RRP also.. Isn't it cheaper than all the other micro 4/3 cameras?

RRP of nex3 US$549 / S$770.

Street price might be $6xx... very tempting...

But for people without Sony lens, still need to buy the lens and the whole basic system maybe at least $1500?

Depend on your definition of 'whole basic system'

Basic system means the minimum equipment need to able to start photoshooting. Meaning 1 body + 1 lens, which I think need at least $1500

The price of nex3 and nex5 already includes either 18-55 or 16mm kit lens with external flash included. If thats what u meant by complete.

Agree  .

I am pleasantly surprised with the package and pricing . (flash and kit lens)
Its a signal that Sony is targeting not the existing alpha users , but to pple who wants more from a PNS , but not a DSLR.

Lets secretly pray they will launch it with special EVF/OVF bundle ! drools .... :sweatsm:

Seems that one early 'issue' is that no dedicated AEL lock, so half pressing locks exposure.. so either you run it on C-AF or MF when needed or make sure your exposure is where your target is.

Overall something like the GF1 probably is a better shooter's camera, but I've been downloading the full res jpegs and I must say that ISO1600 and to a certain extent ISO3200 are very usable and I'm viewing on my 24" IPS monitor as well. The video quality also looks pretty good (though from what I've read its all auto mode video)

Just based on the high ISO usability I think very likely I'm going to get one :) Its already up on the Sony Asia website, so I think it will be available pretty soon.

the NEX3/5 is just the beginning.

Pretty sure Sony will release some NEX for DSLR users (compact sized NEX much like GH1 but smaller) in future.

I think one of the the biggest selling points would be...can it accept as many other lens mount as micro four thirds.

The answer in short is yes.

Flange distance is 18mm, which is shorter than the M4/3's 20mm and diameter from what I see, is also larger. That means there is 2mm more room even for the C mount lenses that were not able to be used on the M4/3 bodies previously.

Once the production copies of the sony NEX rolls out to the market, shouldn't have to wait too long for the M mount adapters to be in the market. That's as far as what my sources have told me....

Going to be an exciting 2nd half of 2010....
