Sony NEX announced ...

Some details:
hasht.ag/20-things-about-the-sony-alpha-nex

Looks good but will not be any easier to carry around than a HX1.

• AVCHD:
1920 x 1080i, 60/50fps
• MP4:
1440 x 1080i, 60/50fps

wonder if it's interlaced / progressive?

'i' would mean interlaced

No build in stabiliser. :(

not a problem 'IF' all E-lenses comes with optical IS
But will be a problem when using Alpha lenses, except if the adapter has IS (not likely)
At the end, the company will generating more revenue with selling more E-lenses...

HX1 already impressed me,but these two little gems seem even better. I will consider to get NEX 5 when it makes his debut here.cheers:)

Yup, I had wanted to use my existing lenses on this new cam, but w/o the stabiliser, guess I will give it a miss.

I think even without the IS, you'll be able to handhold at much lower speeds cos there's no mirror slap.. It's basically the same as a rangefinder body.

any news about the hotshoe? ...is it still sony proprietary hotshoe?

But A-lenses on NEX 'although' with adapter is still manual focus
I think Sony really 'force' us to buy their E-lenses

Oh yah. That too puts me off.

it the most compact as well
Pointless really, whats the point of making such a compact body when your lens is going to cancel out the effort and even then it is bigger than the Olympus Pens with zoom lenses.

the build..if sony had scale down on the built of the zoom itself..i believe it possible to be made smaller...the sony kit zoom is a metal body and at dia 49mm versus oly 37mm ..it still consider smaller
sizing and built aside and risking flaming from the km/pentax/oly/panny fanboys .... this shot of the nex5 at iso 6400 demonstrated just how potent this new 'toy' from sony are.

Heavily compressed JPEG
the amazing dynamic range and the colour tonality at high iso is something which the oly, panny, pentax and struggle with... even the best apsc-noise control pentax kx had a serious problem with

Hmm that looks really good for a compact heh. I think the APS-C sensor made a lot of difference. I agree that the big zooms on the body is kinda of weird . But casting the 18-200m aside , pancake 16mm , would be perfect interms of day to day photography. This is where it stands out from the M4/3 bodies. Its a engineering feat , to put so much horsepower into the size. Definitely , not 100% perfect , but its something that will be trend setting.

With the rise of the small class APS-C cameras , I m sure Nikon and Canon will jump in with their own versions . More competition brings further innovation and improvements and there leaves much for consumers like us to cheer for =D

Hi, After reading the website, NX5 is my next backup copy.

Quite a turnoff to not have AF with Alpha mount lenses. But size & specs wise it looks to be a very good travel cam.

think i'm gonna pass.. looks really ugly. :sticktong

wah lao eh... quite disappointed... :bheart:
