Sony NEX announced ...

Thanks for the update,

Hmm 1.1k for dual lens kit . I hope they have separate single lens kit for 16mm n 18-55mm .

Wow, the 2 lens package seems like a good deal. Less than $200 for another lens.

The 16mm prime lens seems to be the world's cheapest.

Yah I am aiming for the 16mm as well . Maybe add adapter to use my 17-55mm . But u are right the twin lens kit is really cheap , n reviews shows that it's nicely built . Maybe get n keep lol

The NEX-3 and NEX-5 are already available in Hong Kong.

NEX-3

Bare in mind it's tax-free in Hong Kong and these are not street prices.

單鏡套裝=Single Lens Package
雙鏡套裝=Two Lenses Package

Thanks Bluemint
For reference, in the past, how are prices for Sony stuff in HK related to Singapore? 1:1?
If true, then truly we can get the Nex3 set for less than $800 but I prefer it with the 16mm prime lens or any pancake lens between 15-25mm. I find the kit zoom lens too bulky to replace my pns...:)

Amazon.co.jp says it will be released on 2nd June 2010...

Price for dual lens kit is about SGD$1300.

I do have a bit more faith in Sony than in other vendors in terms of product availbility. A release in Singapore in time for the PC show is possible.

Sigma is the worst, you will probably see the camera in store months or years after they have been announced.

WOW, good price,
but then will probably add 10% to the price above when hit SG.
We r well known of being carrot head by SONY's book. :bsmilie:

Very interesting camera to have as a second backup body... I was wondering if Sony would release another version of the NEX with full DSLR features but in that very small form factor... bet it will sell like hot cakes...

Wish to have that too. And sure will be my 2 back up body mainly for prime lenses....Not sure if 50mm f1.4 E mount will be out or 85mm or even the 135mm. Will be awesome if sony would come out those lenses just for E mount... :bsmilie:

I think I'll just sell my entire 7D kit and top up for this NEX-5... brilliant design by Sony... looks really good and the image quality is on par with a DSLR. I really need a smaller backup that can take video with my A900... at present I am using both a Panasonic and a Sony TX-7 digicam but their stills quality leaves much to be desired actually...

Wow you have an A900 and also a 7D? I think these days very different from the past when everyone tended to just stick to one camera system.

I will probably stick to my Nikon system because I've been using Nikons since 1992 but I wonder if Sony will come out with a prime lens stable for their E-mount cameras. I want a 30/F2 and a 58/F1.4 for the NEX for a nice 45mm and 85mm range. It'll be perfect with a 16/2.8, 30/2 and 58/1.4.

im guessing it's a Minolta 7D :)

It will be nice to see the forward timeline of the new lenses planned for NEX, pairing it with Primes and if it is small not necessarily have to be pancake but small enough would be nice to have.

Wow without their own 4/3 system, Sony can come up with a viable alternative that quickly. Will Canon and Nikon jump on this bandwagon as well? Seems like very likely every manufacturer will have to field a representative in this segment.

For the army of SG photographers with plenty of Canon and Nikon legacy prime lenses, should they get the Sony, or wait??????????????????????????? How long will Canon take?

I suppose, like their D5000 or all their latest DSLR Nikon can go and buy up these Sony sensors, chuck in their own software and lens mount (though with electronic mount, maybe the design cannot accept any convetnional lens mount, but then Nikon can just incorperate the lens adapter into the camera body) to make their own version, so they can make it relatively quickly.

And shooting with this tiny cameras and a large zoom, I suppose we have to invent a new way of shooting pictures... like left hand to hold the lens and the other to press the shutter release button?

This is not new... that's how it is done with large lenses.

That's already the "correct" way to shoot when using heavy/long lenses.

Well, isn't it the way to use a DSLR with zoom lens as well? :dunno:
