In my testing, the color reproduction is quite good. Cnet is possibly one of the worst, most amateurish review sites I've ever seen.

just look at the dpreview or imaging-resource samples.

Hmm CNET doesn't like NEX .

I hope tomorrow there could be some models at Sony promotion booth to play with.

Could you test and see how's the general quality of the 18-55mm lens? The BJP initial review said that the quality is not as good as the alpha mount 18-55mm which is supposed to be a very decent kit lens.

I wonder if the alpha mount Sigma 30/1.4 will work well on the NEX hmm...

U have the NEX already?!

the high iso looks pretty decent.
looking at the sonystyle US site, pretty excited with the nx3 with the 16mm lens at 550usd.
that would be very close to those panasonic lx3, canon s90 or g11 camera prices.)

sure bo? tat's $750..i sweep one if it's that price..can't wait to pair it with a pair of MF noktons..

yea thats should be the price coz official RRP already out in USD for all 4 combinations of nex 3/5 with pancake/zoom kit

The new alpha 18-55 is the best kit lens out there among C, N and S. The one on the NEX-5 is not as good. Distortion is higher and edge softness is higher too. Probably related to the much shorter flange distance.

If you buy the a-mount adapter, it will work in MF.

Nope, but I have good friendships with shop owners who let me fondle at will for quite a few days already. :P

I have A900, A550 and HX5. Really no need to add another camera... :P

Yes the edge softness if the one thing that bugs me with some of the shots I'm seeing from the 18-55mm, its not that bad but still not exactly on par with the CNS ones as you said.

Any idea why the 18mm flange distance is potentially causing some IQ issues? I know that m43 is just 2mm longer.. wonder how that relates? I don't mind investing in the A-mount adapter if I'm not going to face too much IQ issues when using A-mount lenses.

if reviewers are not Alpha users, they don't know about the capability how to manage the Alpha management color.

Was this posted already? Just in case haven't :)

Interview with Sony's Toru Katsumoto. - The Sony NEX-5 and NEX-3 were launched in Croatia and ePHOTOzine got an exclusive chat with Toru Katsumoto, Senior General Manager, Sony.

Ahh, the statement below is very interesting....

"At the launch it was mentioned that the adapter for the A mount lenses has compatibility issues such as AF not working. Is that something that's going to be amended in the future?

Mr Katsumoto: Autofocus should be working with the adapter and we have engineers still working very hard. We wanted to prepare a solution for connecting the A mount lenses from the beginning so that's why we released it.

So in time Sony will have a solution for the focusing problem?

Mr Kondo: When it's done maybe we can do it on a firmware upgrade."

:thumbsup: Finally , I can really sell my G10 . This really looks fantastic ! Now is to decide between Nex 3 or 5 . I like red haha

the technology has really improve by leaps and bounds ..since the noisy A100 era....
from zuikoku's sample and dpreview's shot that i had downloaded..it a v big progression

These ISO1600 shots really looks clean. Video on Nex5 is AVCHD and really nice the way LCD screen can tilt.

I was looking for a PnS replacement with DSLR performance. Had previously shortlisted to the EPL1 but this NEX really is intriguing. If it had a fast (f/2.8) 20mm prime lens that is flushed to the grip when installed, that would be great but alas, no sensor stabilisation and no built-in flash...Luckily the flash is included but attaching it adds back the bulk. Will it be here by first week of June? I wonder what the street price would be like? :)
