$5K for a Canon 5D body will be too expensive for launch price even... I'm expecting $3K for body alone... and I'm expecting $2K for body alone for the semi-pro model.

The higher end body is not a pro body... it is similar in positioning to the 5D where the pros are happy to use it but it will not be their first camera... the SONY spokesman said as much... this has been debated to death in many other forums and I think the consensus is finally that the higher end body is just that - higher end that the 7D but not pro level... so $3K is feasible, plus I'm not expecting pro features like complete weather sealing, etc.

That's the usual standard applied to pro level bodies, the K10D is an exception... there are also of course other indicators like the maximum shutter speed, flash sync speeds, memory slots for settings, etc...

Interesting... looks like the highend Sony will have similar MP count (18.7MP??).

I am excited to see what 18.7MP sensor has the effect on some of the nice Minolta prime lenses.
